I Got A Question About Maternity Leave Please Help

Well okay here is the deal my parents said in order to get paid maternity leave you need to have insurance at the place you work is this true because if it is i have to work 6 days full time intill i guess my doctor says stop. Does anyone know about if that is true??

As far as I know, as long as your employer pays their disability insurance, then you can collect maternity disability leave. It doesn't matter how many hours you work, disability will pay you approx. 60% of what you would have made during your leave period. It has nothing to do with health insurance. If you work on the books and have taxes taken out each week you should have no worries.

hey thanks for the advice well then why is my family telling me i have to have health insurance through work to get paid maternity leave? I already am on medicaid so i dont know y i should pay for two insurances??

I believe that short term disability is part of a benefits package that is provided by your employer. Ask your employer if you are eligible. If you have no benefits whatsoever, you many not be eligible for short term disability.

it would help if we knew which country you live in. Canada is different from the US and the maternity benefits are not the same.
