NO usually they can tell the gender the best between 16 and 20 weeks. They also say the 3 white lines are the best indicator of a girl. Im having one too! Congrats! My ultrasound tech told me she was 80% sure it was a girl even after she pointed out the 3 white lines so I am nervous too. Ill let you know, if they were right :o)

I got the 3 lines at 18 weeks also. My doc told me it was 90% girl. I was my pregnant ditzy self when I asked what I would see if it had been a boy. " A p___s!" he said. My husband and everyone in the room started laughing. My doc says he never offers more than 98% accuracy.

wen i found out i was having a girl, cause they saw the white lines(dots) i went searching for answers, i found this website, which made me feel more confident that i was told the right thing.. it reads : The 3-lines sign which denotes the labia in the fetus is a very valid and accurate indication of the female gender. Most of the time one should be able to tell the s_x of the baby by about 20 weeks and very often even at sixteen. With modern equipment, the diagnosis can be made even as early as 11 to 12 weeks. -- congrats on your little girl

hi all, where exactly you see the 3 white lines? i have a picture of the ultrasound please tell me where to look, and how big are the lines, any good imformation will be much appreciated. thank you

Marie, Its kinda hard to tell where to see them. The view and printed out picture we got was kinda from behind, maybe? Her legs were spread open and in the middle of her legs are 3 very tiny white lines. They are kinda hard to see but once the ultrasound tech pointed them out I could see them. I hope this helps a little.

Hi all, I just came from my 20 week ultrasound and they told me I am having a girl, but only pointed out TWO white lines (the labia)! What's up with this? It doesn't seem like she looked very hard so I don't know what to think. I already have a girl and was hoping for a boy but I guess we'll have to wait and see. ** Rachel R, what website did you find that explains things better? Thanks!
