LOW FLUID AND SMUSHED UMBILICAL CORD

WITH MY LAST PREGNANCY,WHEN MY DAUGHTER WAS BORN THE DR FOUND THAT HER UMBILICAL CORD WAS SMUSHED FLAT.SHE SAID THAT MOST BABIES BORN WITH THAT HAD HEART PROBLEMS OR DIED FROM MAL NOURISHMENT.I HAVENT HAD A CHANCE TO ASK MY DR IF THERES A BIG CHANCE THAT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN W/THIS PREG. DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS??ALSO MY WATER GOT LOW ON MY 38WK.

That sounds Scary But I think your doctor, if it's the same would have mentioned the risks if there were any with this pregnancy. I doubt it would happen agian, Don't take my word on it but it sounds like maybe the baby smashed it somehow..... but, I really would think that the doctor would have checked...

Another thing to consider is your fluid intake? I have been told that I need to drink about 64 oz a day, and this is b/c it is my fluid intake that keeps things traveling down the cord to the baby - if I get dehydrated things slow down. I read this in my pregnancy book as well. This is just a thought and you might ask your doctor if this might help. I believe a good diet and enough water helps build a healthy cord. Good luck and it might never happen again, so don't panic yet! ;)
