Ruth, my dr just a few days ago told me to use deet bug spray b/c of West Nile Virus. However, I'm still scared of both, I would use it sparingly.

The risks of using bug spray are a alot less than the risk of getting West Nile.I have heard from a few dr's that its best to protect yourself than to to put yourself at risk for West Nile. I use OFF childrens spray, it has the least amount of Deet in it. Only 4.75 %.

Mosquitos love us pregnant women! They are attracted to us because our temputures are higher (that's what I heard) and so I get swarmed if I'm just in my backyard. I use it and it's usually on my ankles and arms. I think it is fine to use...I mean we use it when we're not pregnant...how safe is everything we use if we are always questioning it once we become pregnant?

I also heard to use only DEET-free stuff. I went to Avon.com and ordered Skin-So-Soft bug spray. Avon now has a whole line of SSS bug sprays. Mine came in time for 4th of July, and it seemed to work pretty darn well, so I was happy. And I live in Minnesota, where the mosquito is the state bird!!!
