Nose Spray

It is definitely allergy season where I live & my allergies are terrible. However, I have been trying to suck it up & not take anything. The only time that's really a problem is at night. My nose is so stuffed up that I can't breath through it, & if I can't breath through my nose, then I can't sleep...not a good situation! For the past few nights I have been using nose spray. At the most I'm using 1/2 a squirt up each nostril...that's it. I'm starting to worry that I shouldn't be using it at all...any ideas? Thanks.

I have the same problem! I live in Florida and oh boy am I feeling it! I must go thorough half a box of tissues and about 15 sneezez before I can even get ready for work in the morning. Then sometimes I b__w so much at night nothing comes out and I'm still stuffy which leads to sleep deprevation cause I have to sleep with my mouth open which I hate, then I wake up with a sore throat. But I know you can use a nose spary that is straight saline and would be safe. What kind are you taking now?

I HATE the b__wing with nothing coming out..drives me crazy! (Not to mention gives me a headache!) I have tried (and am still using) the saline, but I don't think that it really does anything...just makes my nose feel a bit wet for a minute. The one that I'm worried about is a generic nasal spray for sinus. It contains .05% of a nasal decongestant.

I was just in the hospital (asthma with a cold) and they have me on Flonase and my OB dr says that's approved. I normally just take Allegra for my allergies, but for now I'm doing Flonase. I cant remember if that helps allergies or not - I've never done a nose spray before, so I'm unfamiliar with other kinds.

My daughter has bad allergies too and she takes flonase every once in a while and it seems to help. Just double check with Doc and ask for a prescription... I heard Nosonex works alright too but I'm not sure if it's Doc approved. I check with everything. I was getting seriours migranes and would not take anything for a while and then I fia___lly asked Doc and he said I could take Tylenol, Thank Goodness.

AmyF, I have seen you around and heard about your run in with the nasty cold. Hope everything is going better for you.

I thought I had allergies too, but it's pregnancy rhinitis. My Dr. just prescribed flonase as well. She says it will take about a week to work. I had it so bad I could not breathe at night and my mouth would dry out and it sucked. I even tried Claritin for allergies (Dr approved) but that didn't work. Try asking about the flonase or get a saline nose spray, the other kinds tend to make symptoms worse over time.
