Overweight And Doppler

Im about 105kgs which equals to about 225 pounds I think. My weight hasnt changed since before I was pregnant. I went to my midwife the other day (I was 13.5 weeks) and she tried to use the doppler thingy on me but she couldnt pick up a heartbeat. She said there was nothing to worry about because I was early for this particular type of machine to pick up a h/b, but I was wondering if the fact that im quite overweight contributed to her not being able to hear the h/b?

She should be able to hear it at the stage...wait, I always get those confused. Did she use it v____ally or on your stomach?

On my stomach.

Laura I wouldnt' worry. I'm overweight also and my dr. couldn't pick up a heart beat until this appt and I was 17 weeks. I also have a tilted uterus and you may also. But I wouldn't sweat it. We have a plus size thread in the General Questions forum called Plus Size and Pregnant we start a new thread on the 1st and 15th of every month. It's a friendly thread and we all chat about our difficulties. Hope to see you there!! :)

I couldnt hear my babys heartbeat until week 20. The weight does make it more difficult to hear.
