I am just wondering if any of you have heard that they check the length of your cervix? My doctor mentioned it but i don't recall when they said they will actually do the (I THINK she said it was a va___al ultrasound) or something va___al! LOL sorry that was funny to me.. do you know when they actually check the length? how far along you are?

Hi Rainbowbrite--The only time I have had the length of my cervix checked was at my abdominal ultrasound. If it is shortening too soon it is a warning sign for pre-term labor. They checked me more often with my second b/c my first was a little early. This time they just looked at it at my ultrasound at 16 wks 3 days, and I'm not sure if they will do it more or not. But I think that normally it is only done at your ultrasound usually between 16-22 weeks or so. Hope that helps!

I could be completely off with this answer but I believe they check the length of your cervix when you're toward the end of your pregnancy around 36 or so weeks and they start doing the v____al exams to see if you're making any progress dilation/effacing.

I dont think they actually measure it to the cm when they check you toward the end but they just check and will tell you if it's long or shorter or really short.
