Right Side Sleeping Zzzzz

I'm 20 weeks and since I can't comfortably sleep on my belly anymore, I've been switching off from sleeping on my left side to my right side throughout the night. Sometimes I just NEED to switch to the right side. Is it really all that bad?

Ca__sie, from what I have read, as long as it is not on your back you are fine. Left is better, but right is ok.

Thanks Brandy. My book says its better to sleep on left side too, but without an explanation. I've heard that it involves blood flow, but still am not completely sure.

They say lay on your left because there is a major vein that runs up the right side of your body. If you don't have any underlying health condition (high blood pressure, diabetes) then either side is o.k.

I have also read that laying on your left side alieviates the acid reflux, and I am a testement that is true!! Although I have found that I sleep better, way better on my back right now. I am 23 weeks, and it is just now that I am feeling that extra weight on my bladder on my back, so I dont think it's gonna last much longer. I hate having to sleep on my side, because I toss and turn so much more. But I will agree that the left is slightly more comfy, especially if you use 3-4 pillows like I do!
