Signs Of Pre Eclampsia

I am 22 weeks. I noticed today that my feet were swollen really bad and kind of purple, and I hadnt hardly walked around at all. I looked at my hands and noticed they looked a little swollen also and I could not get my rings off. I have been feeling very tired and dehydrated. Are these just aches and pains of pregnancy or should I be concerned?

Hi Ca__sie, it's definitely best to get checked out, especially if the swelling is sudden. Other signs of pre-eclampsia can be headache, visual disturbances etc., but it can also be insidious. Having said that though, some girls experience quite severe swelling during pregnancy with no other problems, it is just one of those things to deal with. Drink plenty of fluid, lie down on your side and make and check in with your doctor/midwife. Gee I sound bossy dont I? ;-) Good luck.

hi, My doc told me if I start to look like the pilsbury dough boy to call immediately. Some feet/ankle sweeling is normal, I dont think hand swelling is that normal though. You better call them. Good luck.

Definately get checked! Pre-eclampsia ain't fun, from someone who's been there. Other things that 3babies missed - sudden weight gain (I gained 16 pounds in 3 weeks), and bleeding gums.
