Everyone keeps telling me to sleep on my left side but it is so uncomfortable! I fall asleep on my left and wake up right it never fails. But recently i wake up and my legs feel very strange not asleep but weak its really wierd could this be a cause of me sleeping on the wrong side> what can i do?

from what i understand, the side you should sleep on can be dependent on your blood pressure. at my last doctor's appt. i asked him about which side is best, and he said i've got good bp so i can sleep whichever. i try to sleep on my left because that's what i've read is good - but often i'll wake up on the right or my back. apparently sleeping on your left keeps the blood flowing well to you & your baby and i've known some women who have slept on their backs and been dizzy during the day. i don't know why you have weak legs right now; strange stuff like that happens to me every so often and i just attribute it to just another quirky pregnancy thing :) so my suggestion to you is to sleep in whichever position feels most comfortable for you - and at your next dr. appt. ask them about it.

Have you tried using a body pillow? This really helped me because I too found sleeping on my left side uncomfortable. Now I lean against the pillow and it is a lot better. There is an artery called the Vena Cava (sp?) that runs down your back right side. Sleeping on your back can cause the weight of your uterus to restrict the blood flow through this artery, causing numbness in the legs, lightheadedness, and in extreme cases reduced blood flow to the baby. Personally, I am a sound sleeper and probably wouldn't realize if this was happening to me, so I opted to try the pillow and sleep on my left.
