Sleeping On Stomach Safe

Sorry if this has been asked before...I'm nearly 21 weeks with my first child, a baby boy. :) We're naming him Oliver. Anyway - I'm wondering if it is safe to sleep on my stomach. It's my preferred sleeping position. I'm very pet_te and I don't have that much of a baby bump yet. (Luckily I was told during ultrasound he's the right size for dates). So... is sleeping on my tummy safe as long as I'm comfy doing so? Thanks in advance for your advice.

I've read sleeping on your side (especially left side) is best in your second and third trimesters. You can check with your doctor if you can still manage to sleep on your tummy just to be sure.

A nurse at my OB's office wouldn't tell me one way or another if it was "ok"- but she said she slept on her stomach until it became uncomfortable when she was pregnant. (I'm a stomach sleeper, too, but my big belly has made it pretty impossible now at 26 weeks)

I still sort of sleep on my stomach, but I use a body pillow to prop myself up on so that I am not totally on my tummy, but more on my side. It feels like I am on my tummy and I think it is safer than sleeping flat on my stomach.
