Stomach Issues

Sorry if this is TMI but I wanted to know if anyone has had a similar experience. I had some diarrhea a couple of days ago (I suspect the culprit to be too many pickles), to stabalize my stomach I ate bland food the day after (rice, toast etc.). After that things went completely the other way and for two days I was blocked up. Today I decided to try get things going and drank lots of water and ate some prunes and now I'm back to diarrhea ugh! Since the begining of pregnancy my stomach has been predictabily difficult but this is new for me. Has anyone had this happen to them? Should I just wait it out or should I go in to check it out. Again I apologize for the fun topic but I would love some feedback. Thanks :)

My whole gastrointestinal system seems to be out of whack. In the first trimester it wasn't so bad or maybe I didn't notice it because I was so exhausted, but I now have so much stomach acid that it keeps me up at night. I only average about 4 hours a night of sleep. I revert from diarrhea constipation and it's miserable. I think that pregnant women usually notice stomach upset in the form of heartburn, but mine seems to be primarily excess stomach acid causing other complications. I talked to a friend of mine with 2 kids, she said same thing happened to her. She would get a nervous feeling in her stomach (excess stomach acid) and wouldn't be able to fall asleep for hours.

Thanks for responding. It's a reminder that pregnancy does play havoc with our digestive systems, and mine was not that great to begin with. Did your doctor make any recommendations for your excess acid? So sorry to hear about your sleep. The one thing that has been going ok in my pregnancy is (so far) I can get reasonable sleep.

Sadly i have the same issue. One day i will have lose bowel movements and then 2 days i am constipated. It's like a viciious cycle, but just another joy of pregnancy! lol I try not to change my eating habits and start to monitor the things that make my stomach uneasy so i can stay 'regular'.

Ditto! I will fluctuate in the same day! I'll be constipated, then two hours later I've got diarrhea. Go figure. Prunes **always** give me diarrhea. I love them, though, so it kind of saddens me. Another thing is dried mango-- if you get stopped up, get some dried mango. It'll clear you out in a hurry... About the acid, I have acid reflux disease and pregnancy makes it a ton worse, so I just take more of my pepcid. Same risk category as Tylenol and my Dr. said it was okay to stay on. I tried the whole tums thing and my acid laughed at the tums. I've actually started the throwing up again. I am NOT happy about that. My stomach and digestive system just feels all out of whack. So I'm right there with you girls.

Thank you all for sharing. I was feeling a little freaked out and alone :( Sarah, I will try the dried mango, I LOVE mango.

I love mango, too. But man oh man if you're not constipated it's not a good thing to do, lol!

Sarah thanks for the warning, I'll remember to save the dried mango for emergency situations only *lol*

Or limit yourself to 3 or 4 pieces... not half the package like I did. hehe.
