Hi - I am scheduled for one of these next week and I understand it is something i have to go back for every 3 weeks so I was wondering when they do that does it hurt at all? I looked up pictures online and it looks almost painful but I don't know if i was looking at the right thing- Also I wondered when they do that do they see the baby too? Or is it just like for your cervix each time? Also has anyone had their cervix st_tched? I wonder if it hurts ? and if you stay on bedrest even if you have it st_tched? Just looking for a little more info if anyone has had it done.. Thanks

transvarginal ultrasound is very midly uncomfortable less than a pap smear infact. thats how I felt. Its used to see how ur cervix is . that determines if u would need a stich ( cerclage). I got one on me right now. To put stict they usually give u general anestesia. it is midly uncomfortable again .About bedrest depends on ur case. Yes after cerclage u might be asked to rest for a couple of days. Good luck

I had to have these done in my last pregnancy and will have to go through it again this time around. I don't remember the u/s hurting at all and I was able to see the baby clearly at first, but as the baby gets bigger all you can see is whatever part that is near the cervix. However if your technician is nice enough she may let you get a belly ultrasound too. When I had my cerclage they gave the choice of getting an epidural or going completely under, in either case you won't feel a thing and I don't remember any pain afterwards either. They will worn you about possible spotting from the st_tch but I didn't have that either. In my case I didn't have to go on bedrest afterwards but it will be up to your OB. Good Luck and enjoy the extra peeks at your baby.

A transv____al is a piece of cake don't worry, no pain at all. You actually get a better view of the baby as well as the cervix. I've had transv____al about 3 times so far and I'm only 11 weeks. I get a cerclage placed on Dec. 30th and they will be checking my cervix weekly there after. No bedrest or alterations in my lifestyle will be necessary unless problems arise. . . Oh, I am on light duty at work for my entire pregnancy, besides that there will be no changes besides weekly doctors visits. My doctor doesn't put pregnant women to sleep unless it an emergency c section so for my st_tch in 18 more days (!!!!) I will be getting a spinal. . OUCH! Totally worth it though. I'm excited. How do you know that you have IC? Have you experienced premature delivery?

I just wrote a reply Goldfish, that was a typo. Although. . . I remember there was a lady who's baby kicked up really high and it was very painful for her and people reccommended that she put a ice pack there, and I remember her saying it worked. Her lo would run from the cold lol. You can try that, since it kinda freaks you out. I know where your coming from though, but I'm sure those little kicks would effect your cervix. Maybe it your lo was headb___ting your cervix super hard or something hehe.

Hi Sprinkles, I've had a couple transv____al ultrasounds for the same reason. Don't worry, they don't hurt at all, promise! What happened with me is the tech used this to look at and measure my cervix, and then she switched over to a regular, belly ultrasound to look at the baby. You will be fine. Good luck with everything :)
