Ultrasound 18 Weeks No Genitalia Either Way

I had an ultrasound at 18 wks. and the tech didn't check out the stuff for very long. She said she'd call it a girl, but sometimes thing pop-in. From how she sounded, if I'd asked, she'd probably say she had a 50% chance of being right. I can see ultrasound pics very clearly, and this kid had nothing going on down there, it was just flat, I guess, maybe alittle mound. The baby did measure bigger than average, so I'd think the stuff would be more developed, maybe not. What do you all think? Anybody couldn't tell for sure at 18 weeks? What did you end up having?

My ultrasound was done at 17 weeks.. and my tech said it was a boy.. But i really didnt see a p___s.. but i sure as heck didnt see a v____a.. (i was trained to read ultrasounds when i did volenteer work at a hopital as a teen) But in about 14 weeks we will find out for sure if its a boy or a girl..

It's a known fact the vagania does not form till you're 20 weeks.

That's not true raychell. The genetalia is formed by 16 weeks. That's why it easiest to tell from 16 - 22 wks. Before the baby gets too big and the legs block the view.

my dr. keeps doing this to me also. He tells me he is so sure its a boy but wants to check to be sure at my Sept. 2nd apt. I will be 28 weeks at this time.

i got mine at 16 weeks and it showed a girl and she said she was positive because if it was a boy it would have round spots down ther indicating the testicals

Pregnancy Week 20

Your Sixth Lunar Month Begins!
What's Going on with Your Baby?
Your bun in the oven is "half-baked!" All the pieces are there and, if it’s a girl, she’s growing her v____a this week!

I have seen girl sonars and there is no "mound", just 3 lines that you look for. It's probably a girl, just be patient and think about going for a 3D ultrasound!

actually... - August 23

sorry rachel, but I found out my first three girls were girls at 16 weeks. What the site is talking about are the labia (lips of v____a) forming around the c___toris at around 20 weeks, but the c___toris is there much, much earlier (the three lines). A p___s has also developed around 15 weeks, but hard to see that early. With this pg, at 18 weeks tech couldnt tell, found out last week at 26 weeks another girl for us!

i'm having twin boys - found out at 20 weeks. if they were girls I don't think we would have been able to tell with one because of his position - it's just much easier to tell if they are boys! don't worry - your baby will cooperate eventually - it's good you are being cautious and not getting your hopes up on whatever the tech said... good luck!

Thanks for your input everybody! And congratulations to you all. I'll let you all know when I find out for sure.......wait, that won't be till Christmas. I wish I'd had known about the 3 lines BEFORE my scan, or at least a tech who knew, or cared. I think the she was a little biased, like she didn't think people should want to know the gender. She only looked for 5 seconds tops. Clear view though. It took her an HOUR to get all the measurements, not 20 mins! I a__sume she was being extra careful. The baby wasn't even moving much, just suckling away on the placenta-so the tech said. The only reason I am so anxious to know the s_x is that a month before I conceived, I had a dream that I had a baby boy. Since the dream predicted the pregnancy I figured it'd be a boy. When I told my mom my good news, she said that she had dreamt 2 of her daughters were preggo, one with a boy, one a girl. Turns out a month later, my "sterile" sister is pregnant. So I'm convinced my mama's dream is fully accurate, but who's having what? The suspense is killing me and only because of our these d__n prophetic dreams. My sister's ultrasound is this Thursday, but the little biddy will probably have its legs crossed. Ok, this is a long one. Bye.
