OK, I know I'm going to get bombarded by the perfectionists about how I'm a bad mommy, but I'm wondering...what "rules" have you broken? There's so frickin many I find it a little absurd. My no-nos so far are: a couple of Caesar salads (from restaurants, they probably used raw egg in the dressing), blue cheese crumbles on salad (please, it's almost always pasteurized these days), a little vino (I only take sips of hubby's a few times a week though) eggs over easy (my doc said it's OK!) painting the kitchen (again doc said fine with adequate ventilation), let's see...oh yes some raw cookie dough, probably a whole bag of saltwater taffy over the weekend (all that sugar can't be great), changed the litter box once or twice (with gloves!), and although I don't eat steak much I would NEVER order it cooked above medium. Not exactly egregious "sins" I admit, certainly not in my opinion, but according to some alarmist books they're all big fat no-nos. Anyone else want to confess??? (For the record, I take my vitamins, usually eat healthy foods, exercise regularly, listen to my body and intuition, and baby looks great.)

ha... I have a lot... I eat LOTS of ice cream, have eaten feta cheese, probably too much tuna, I take hot baths, eat tons of candy, sometimes have forgotten to take my vitamin, dye my hair, had one gla__s of wine...

I have had gla__ses of wine, (one gla__s at a time) I have had a margitta, I am bad about taking my vitamins...heck I was bad about taking my bc reason I am pregnant. As for food...I eat deli meats, I have soft cheese, umm, yea think I have even had a caesar salad didn't think i was doing a no-no with that one but you are right. And I actully craved this dish were you take toast and crumble it up in a bowl and then take two minute egg and break it open in to the dish and mix well...so again runny eggs. And according to my dr my baby is healthy and my blood work always comes back great...she actully says that my body must really love the vitaims because all my levels were high...I didn't need iron or anything. Knock on wood that contuines.

Oh yeah I've eaten cookie dough and probably cake batter, eat deli a lot, love caesar salads... i'd have to sit in a bubble if I followed the "rules" 100%

I have quite a few myself. I too have eaten raw cookie dough...realized I shouldn't after I had a few bites, changed the cat box with gloves a couple times, eaten blue cheese, had lunch meats that i did not heat to 160 degrees, have skipped a few days of my prenatal..they make me constipated, and I drink coffee every morning (although i have heard conflicting info about this one). Besides the coffee most of my "sins" have been on rare occasions.

Yes, Alicia--I can't help but sleep on my back! I always try to start on my side but end up on my back every time. Whew--feels good to come out of the closet. ;)

this is a hilarious thread!!! I have had 2 gla__ses of wine since I got bfp, and I will have a few more by the end Im sure. I ate tuna last week, totally didnt know that was a no-no, but it tasted great! Deli meat, over easy eggs quite a few times (again didnt know..oops) rare strip steak twice, and coffee is starting to taste good again, so I may take that up in moderation! I dont exercise at all..too cold and too tired... I sleep ALOT. BTW, Kraft brand feta and blue cheese is perfectly fine...its pasteurized. OB nurse told me that specifically. We're doing fine ladies...if these are the worse we do!! Good luck!

Oh and how couuld I have forgotten the lobster roll I had, that was made with 1/2 pound of lobster meat. Shortly after eating it I saw it on the "no" list. ooops!

Think I'll have a tuna sandwich for lunch! (I only have it once a week--look at me with my disclaimers, it's so silly!)

Tuna is not forbidden ladies! Two cans a week (provided you don't eat other fish they think have high mercury levels) is perfectly safe. =) I lay on my back more than I should probably, but if my vena cava is getting compressed, I think I'll know, haha. I'm good about taking my vitamins though! I do eat tuna, though.

Well i'm a fan of the saying "anything is okay in moderation" I know i'm not eating as healthy as i should be, i'm addicted to MCdonalds Fries and M&M's. I've eaten tuna and other seafood for that matter but i dont do it more than twice a week. I have a gla__s of wine about once a week, and i have had 2 a one sitting. Love ceasar salad, didnt even think of that being a no-no. Made cupcakes last week and licked the spoon AND the bowl...geez...i guess i'm not doing very good am i? BUT...i DIDNT quit smoking!! so thats a big plus. I'm good about my vitamins and i do drink lots of water. I have a cup of coffee or a coke once or twice a week and I have painted, with a face mask and the windows open...oh and i changed kitty liter twice with gloves and a mask. So how am i doing so far? I'm 24 weeks preggo and i've gain 20lbs.

shygirly - February 13
