Well I don't know for sure if I am pregnant.... last night my boyfriend and I were having s_x and I started to cramp severely. I am going to the OBGYN this week to confirm my 'pregnancy'. I am really worried about the cramping and if it was harmful.

mokemom, I'm 30 weeks and I too get cramps during intercourse (started around 22 weeks). Actually it's only in one position (me on top), and it doesn't happen right away. It actually happens after being in that position for a while or when the s_x gets a little rougher. I wondered if this is bad for the baby or me, and I would like to hear what other people have to say.

s_x triggers off braxton hicks. you may find that they become stronger towards the end of the pregnancy. orgasm will trigger them and exertion will too. i used to get them when i got a bit too enthusiastic with the hoovering! I had them and it caused my baby no harm at all

Semen contains prostaglandins that can help to induce contractions. Also the uterus contracts during an orgasm and the body releases some chemicals that cause these contractions. Therefore it is not uncommon after s_x/orgasm to have BH type contractions after intercourse. It's normal and as long as the contractions stop after an hour or so there should be nothing to worry about (since BH are normal during pregnancy anyways, if you've been experiencing them normally then obviously they may not completely disappear/stop but they should be at least go back to "normal").
