Is it safe to have s_x when the placenta is low-lying.The OB said it was ok when I was 2 months, now I am 4 months and am only seeing OB in 3 weeks.my husband wont try anything incase I start bleeding.Has anyone had this type of experience?

I'm 20 weeks and my dr. just told me that I have low lying placenta and I should not have s_x. Since you are bleeding after you have s_x, i would stay away from it..to be safe.

My mom had the same problem when she was carrying my sister. Her doctor told her no intercourse, but said orgasm was okay. (I remember my parents and their friends making all sorts of jokes about that) You should call your doctor and ask if s_x would still be okay. Your husband may still be afraid to do anything, because he doesn't want to hurt you or the baby. There are lots of things you can do to each other without actual intercourse (just pretend you're dating again).

i also have a low placenta but i am at 24 weeks and seen my Dr today and was stressed there can be absolutly no intercoarse cuz i very well can damage placenta and make you bleed.. so my advice is just wait until your appointment there is a high possibility your placents has moved up or will by then

I was told that I have a low-lying placenta at 19 weeks, but my doctor did not say that we could not have s_x. He felt it would correct itself but that I should call if I start to bleed. I am now 25 weeks and have been having s_x at least weekly with no problems.

I'm 20 weeks. I went to the doctor today and he told me I had a low lying placenta as well. I was also told not to have s_x until he tells me otherwise. I would wait to have s_x until you talk to your OB especially since you're bleeding. I was told if I start to bleed to contact the doctor immediately.

I double-checked with my OB on Tuesday and he said as long as I have not had any bleeding, s_x is okay. The vast majority of low-lying placentas correct themselves by the third trimester. If it doesn't, then it becomes a placenta previa and s_x is off-limits for the remainder of the pregnancy. I am almost 26 weeks now and have had no episodes of bleeding (knock on wood.)
