I was wondering is what they say true about male sperm and female sperm. That female sperm live longer than the male sperm? And how many days can sperm live inside you or outside of you?

Emma2 - April 19

Male sperm are known to be faster and weaker. Female sperm are stronger and slower. Generally sperm lives for about 48 hours and upto 5 days max.

Sperm in your non-fertile time will live in your v____a for a couple of hours max and never make it inside your cervix because it is closed off by a plug to protect you from infections and this plug slowly starts to break down a few days after your period. Sperm outside the v____a live for a few minutes only.

so would you say that if you concieved a boy you most likely concieved within 48 hours after s_x and a girl would maybe be a day or 2 later?

sperm can live 5-7 days in an extremely fertile enviroment but 24 hours if the environment is too acidic. female sperm are stronger and slower to reach the egg and male sperm are quicker but weaker

its a 50 50 chance really i would say nobody can tell. but some say there are certain months of the year to try for a boy and a girl but they say the days leading up to ovulation is the best time if u want a boy and ovulation day for a girl

Oh ok so I dont want to sound stupid but Im just wondering if sperm were to get on your underware it would die in a few min. Is there a chance that the sperm could still be alive later on if it got wet again?

Emma2 - April 19

Karen, that theory has not been scientifically proven yet. It would make sense but you can't rely on that. UnLuckyLady1903, 7 days is based on one study and is very rare. Few hours is the time frame for sperm before the acidity kills them not 24 hours.

UnLuckyLady1903 - April 19

sperm outside the body dies within the hour it cannot survive

Emma2 - April 19

Yes it would die within minutes.

UnLuckyLady1903 - April 19

ok i was just goin on what my gp told me i think it really depends on your body because you never know how acidic your mucus is thats why some people try for ages and find out they have a hostile environment

Actually-I have read that if you are trying for a girl-DO NOt have s_x on the day that your suppose to ovulate and have s_x in the days before. The "male" sperm are quicker and will get to the egg before the female ones-but if you wait-the male sperm should technically die and the female sperm lazily make there way up. Me and DH are going to try this with our next cause we are going to be having our second boy and boys are thick in his family-so I figure it is worth a try.

So if I bleed later on then would the sperm consider that a hostil enviroment?

UnLuckyLady1903 - April 19

i would just be happy to have any s_x its better than no baby at all. i have been trying for 2 years and no luck

UnLuckyLady1903 - April 19

the sperm wouldnt be able to survive its not an ideal environment

Jenn - April 19

Do you mean bleed as in ovulation spotting or something? I think that sperm could live in blood only bc there have been women who get pregnant while on their periods-I don't know any, but I have read about instances.

Karen S - April 19

No I mean my period
