Another Period While Pg Question From Yours Truly La Rae

La Rae - February 22

I would like to ask ANY woman who is now currently pregnant or who was in the past, and actually had what seemed like a period when af was due, but your pg symptoms continued and come to find out: You were actually pregnant! And hopefully, it was a successful pregnancy. I know I've heard that it's possible, but I cannot remember actually reading a post by a woman on here who experienced it herself. All the ones I've read, it was someone they 'Knew' who went through it. I would just like to know what your symptoms were leading up to your 'fake' period and during and after - and how long the period lasted, how heavy it was, was it suspicious or did it seem normal? (NOT Implantation bleeding, that is not what I am asking about). I hope this question makes sense, I tend to babble a lot when I am in the process of going out of my mind.... Thanks in advance for any feedback on this.

This is my first pregnancy sans a period. But I remember all before this time, my period wasn't normal at all. It was light, the cramps were even light. There wasn't any kind of clots and it would often come and go.. if that makes sense. I hope this helps, hun!****

OK, ITS ME AGAIN. I KNOW TOO MANY PEOPLE THAT HAD PREGNANCY ISSUES(PROBLEMS).MY WONDERFUL SISTER AND MOM(WHO REMINDED ME EVERYDAY OF MY 29 YEARS OF LIFE)HAD PERIODS(PREGNANCY BLEEDING).MY SISTER'S LASTED FOR 4 MONTHS. SHE DIDNT KNOWN SHE WAS PREGNANT UNTIL HER 4TH MONTH. SHE SAID HER PERIOD CAME ON TIME EVERY MONTH.HER 6 YEAR OLD IS PERFECTLY FINE. MY MOM SAID HER BLEEDING LASTED FOR 6 MONTHS AND CAME ON TIME. THAT WAS WHEN SHE PREGNANT WITH ME. MY MOM SAID SHE DIDN'T KNOW SHE WAS PREGNANT UNTIL SHE WAS 3 MONTHS ALONE. THEY DONT REMEMBER MUCH ABOUT THEIR PREGNANCY SIGHS.THAT IS WHY I CAME TO THIS SITE TO LOOK FOR ANSWERS. I KNOW YOU CAN BE PREGNANT AND HAVE REGULAR PERIODS. THE BIGGEST QUESTION IS HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A POSTIVE TEST ? IT IS NICE TO KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE STRESSING OVER THIS. SUGARPIE AND LARAE I THINK YOU BOTH ARE PREGNANT. YOU HAVE ALL THE SIGNS. GOOD LUCK!!! AND RELAX

Hi La Rae, I'm 11wks pregnant and I've had 2 completely normal periods. Both came when expected, they were the same flow, colour, and lasted the usual 3 days. The only difference I would note, is that I didn't have any cramping with either one. Not even a mild twinge. Although I've never been one to get grumpy with my AF, my mood is exactly the same even when I'm on, but I was a total b___h for the past 2! So much so, I don't know how I still have friends LOL. Um the only other thing I can think of, is that it had alot of mucas mixed in with the blood. Which, for me anyway, isn't normal. Aside from that though, it was just the usual thing. Hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!!

Hi, i was just wondering to the women who have experienced there period while pregnant, did you ever get small clots while bleeding? i got my period 3 weeks late & i have symptoms of pregnancy. my period is really unusual stopping & starting, brown mucus, light pink, bright red heavy then light & had about 3 small clots which is usual for me during my period, also this period started very lightly 6 days ago. would appreciate someones opinion. thanx.....

La Rae to Sophie - February 24

Thank you so much for your response. Did it freak you out when you got your 'period' like that? Did you know you were pregnant before the first one, or the 2nd one? Was the flow 'normal'? Not like implantation bleeding, not really enough for a tampon but enough for a thin maxi? I hope these aren't too many questions for you at once. Did your doctor have any explanations as to WHY you bled when af was expected, even though you are pregnant? Can I ask what your first symptoms of pregnancy were? I really appreciate your help with this - but I am starting to really doubt if I am pg. I bought four Eckard brand pg tests at Big Lots yesterday (a buck 49 a piece!) and I tested with one last night - of course it was a BFN! I am still gonna test at every few days - but I am coming up on my ovulation time, and I will KNOW If I am ovulating - that'll be enough for me as far as me NOT being pg, you know? I just hate this waiting game and weird symptoms going on, c___p..... Thanks to everyone, btw - who has answered this question for me, and also just given advice. You ladies are great!

La Rae to Sophie (again) - February 24

I forgot to mention that with my recent 'af' I too had a lot of mucous mixed in with mine. I thought that was weird.....I also had no cramps which, for the past 5 periods that I have had, I did get mild cramping on the first day. I also did not feel like I was af at all (as far as my b___bs went - they are ALWAYS sore, hard and swollen 2 days before and the first 2 days during af. Plus, I was a TOTAL b___h too - quite abnormal for me, since it's always the week before that I am in super-b___h mode. Quite peculiar indeed......

Janelle to Dallas - February 27

Dallas I am experiencing the SAME thing you are! My period is always on time and this month it was a little over 3 weeks late and has been a bit watery with alot of clotting which I usually do not experience, I have had several pregnancy like symptoms for the last 3 weeks including stuffy nose with blood and I do not have a cold. Ia mgoing to the doctors tomorrow to get blood test done, please keep me posted on your situation.

Hi la Rae Im not so sure I can help you but just wanted you to know we are kinda in the same boat I have been experiencing cramping and sore b___sts this week but it is a week before my period is due so I was wondering also if I could be pregnant I tested this morining bu tgot a negative result I am not due for another 5 days though so I guess i'll have to wait it out My sisiter did however get her normal pms 2 days before she was due and then bled lightly for 3 days to find out to her surprise she was pregnant She said she felt as though she had the flu so she tested. Hope this at least helps a little good luck

Linda - March 16

Well La Rae here is another one for you lol yep I am in the same boat! Well for me, this a/f has been so unusal for me. Barely any cramps at all, only the first day but very light. Most of it has been spoting, changing from red to pink and sometimes brown mixed in with some kind of water. Only one day it was a moderate flow for only a little while, I can remember two small blood clots but that is all. Everyday I seem to have some kind of new pregnancy symptom. All I know is this is not normal for me, 6-7 days very heavy with lots of cramps. But the past two periods have been like this, infact now that I think about it, my last a/f (in feb) was lighter than normal and it came early, this one however is alot lighter and came a day late. So I'm waiting, like most of you gals until this spotting stops then couple days later, test. Thank you ladies to responding to La Rae's post! My mother and grandmother both had what they thought was a period but all they could tell me was it was lighter and shorter than a normal period.

La Rae to Linda - March 16

How weird....my af last month came a day late and just STOPPED all of sudden 3 and a half days into it. Leading up to that, I bled normally (didn't notice any blood clots). This month? I started 2 days early! It's normal though. With the exception of REALLY bad (like the ones I had before I had my son) menstrual cramps and lower backache. I do not believe for a second that I am pg - but I am baffled by my weird last two cycles. I think that if I ever do get pg (before it's too late) - I'm not gonna know it until I've missed AT LEAST 3 periods! I hope to GOD that I don't have any kind of bleeding if I ever do get pg - I'll go over the edge, I just know it! Good luck to you Linda, if you are ttc. I am on hiatus right now. But if things resume for me and my guy (or I meet some s_xy stranger - LOL), then I am just gonna have hot, wild s_x and not worry if I conceive or not.

Sarah - March 16

My Grandma had her period for 6 months while pregnant with my mom. I just went to the doctor today and had a blood test. A blood test is the surest way of knowing, plus they can calculate a due date that way. I have had regular periods with spotting in between for over four months. I have had "stretching" and "pulling", like in my previous pregnancies. The weirdest things are that my stomach has gone from flat and wide, to narrow and rounded, but I haven't gained weight. This could be because I was on a diet for 6 weeks at the beginning of the year and couldn't seem to loose weight. I am now wondering if I lost weight but was gaining pregancy weight at the same time and so it evened out. Ok, now we are going to get even weider. I have been feeling "flutters", like baby kicks. I tried to pa__s it off as "gas", but then I felt it with my hand from the outside, it was a "ball" about the size of my fist. I have taken 3 home tests, all negitive. My husband and I do use "foam" contraception, but that hasn't really mattered, because the last two times we were using it when I got pregnant. Anyway, the doctor said that it's either a baby or a tumor, which is what they thought my Grandma had when she was pregnant with my mom! In answer to your question, my periods were completely normal and more on time than usual it seems, EXCEPT for the spotting in between! Lasted 4-5 days, stop for a day or two, spot for a day or two, and then done until the next month. My periods have always been medium to heavy and still are, without much cramping (except for when I was little and first started my period-they were very heavy and terrible cramping).Right now, the spotting is usually like a light to medium period. Not suspious, except that one or two months I did have a few little blood clots.Hopes this helps those who read it, I know it has sure helped me to know that my Grandma and I are not alone! I will bookmark this site so I can come back and let you know the results of the blood test!

mulgajill - March 16

LaRae, i did a bit of a google search on periods while pregnant.... seems it happens if the hormone levels are not high enough to suppress periods completely (perhaps too low to show on test???).... my period i just had after the positive preg test was heavy and clotty (pretty yuk really) and came on quick... the women who had written about their periods while pregnant said some shorter, some lighter, and mucousy... which mine definately wasn't... so i am counting down to yet another 'o' day... will use the prescription i managed to talk the doc into giving me (you should have seen his face when i started with "i have been researching on the internet") for progesterone this time round, have to mail it interstate (have found one guy on the net who actually still mixes his own stuff up) as the pharmacists where i live just gave me *blank look* ... if you are preggas... great... if not... you will have to rope hubby in for a kiss and make up around ... or maybe find a toy boy :-P... thinking of that song... 'all that she wants is another baby...' lol... and please all the puritanical people with no sense of humor... DON'T start on morality issues! :-) And no more of the 'before it's too late' stuff ... my girlfriend i visited is 47 and still having to take the pill so she won't get pregnant... she had her first pregnancy at 42... xx

Sarah - March 18

Hi, I'm back. Well, the results cam back that I might be one day or one week pregant. Now I have to go have an ultrasound in a few weeks, to see if all of that other stuff was anything...BYE

Sarah - April 15

Well, the ultra-sound confirmed: NO BABY. The radiologist said that it's most likely fibroids. My mom and aunt had them too. I looked on the internet and all my symptoms are that....BYE

Lynn - April 16

I'm in the same boat. MY periods were just like La Rae's. The one in Feb was 2 days late and lasted 5 days (and was lighter than normal) and the one in Mar. was 2 days early and lasted 4 days (and was also lighter than normal). At this time, I am 1 day late and I'll bet its only 3 days this time. Yet, OBGYN says everything is normal and I'm not pregnant. BULL! Either I'm pregnant, or somethings wrong!
