Are Gyno Preg Tests The Same As OTC Tests

I gave a urine sample to my gyno 10 days after my period (you guys call it AF?) was due, and she said it was negative for pregnancy. Did she do the same test as the OTC tests I did before? It's now 21 days since my period was due and still no period. What's the latest in a pregnancy that the hormones will show up in a urine test? Should I just bank on having missed my period for the month and assume I'm definitely not pregnant? Thanks!

Hi Liz. Quite often otc tests are more sensitive than the tests doctors use. Did you come up positive at home before you gave your sample to the gyno? If you came up + at home, then I'd definitely test again with a hpt. It's poss' you had an early m/c, but it's also very possible that you are pregnant, espcially if you are late. Maybe it was too early for the doctor's urine test to pick it up? If you are pregnant the hpt will come up BFP right away now. Good luck to you..hope you get your definite result soon.

I tested negative twice at home before going to the gyno. It didn't seem too early to test @the time, but now I didn't know if it was too late. I'm a__suming I'm not pregnant, but it still bugs me that I haven't had a period this month & I get cramps all the time. I had spotting the day my period was due & then 10 days after that. It's been a total of 20 days since I was due for period & still nothing.

I'm in the same boat; it's 23 days. Spotted on the 16th - that was it. Sore, hot b___sts, food issues, smells can be overpowering, headaches, dizziness, but negative tests -- and negative blood test last week. Don't know what's happening
