I've gone off the pill in Jan and this will be my first month charting. Due to stopping the pill my AF was late, no worries. My body is getting it's normal cycle back I guess, but my questio n was should I be charting while on AF or after it is over, and is before the peak or during the peak in temp rise that O has occured, any info would be great. I have read other sites but havent really gotten an answer. Thanks so much

Hi Eve, I would recommed getting Toni Weschler's "Taking Charge of Your Fertility", she gives a thorough explanation of charting etc... I don't chart my temps during AF, I usually start right after it ends. You really know that ovulation has occured in hindsight, after 3 days of elevated temps. Hope that helps!

You can start charting whenever... Your temp. goes up right after ovulation. A great book to read if you are just starting is Taking Charge of Your Fertility...it explains it all!

Eve, no kidding! TTC is like a full-time job. :) I'm also using OPK kits and charting CM so I can make sure I'm trying at precisely the right time. After a few months I finally figured out that I ovulate later than I thought I did. Good Luck!!

This is also my first month charting. I also do OPK strips. My temp spike came (I think) a couple of days after ovulation. They stayed elevated for a couple days, then I got another spike (triphasic curve). But it came back down to the initial spike level (not the base level, but the level it rose to after ovulation). So it is staying elevated. I am still learning about all of this. Best of luck to you all!!

Charting works. I got preg. after second cycle. I found my BBT goes up a little slower after ovulatioin (like two days) but sperm can live that long, so it's fine. The REAL way to tell is that ovulation occurs after the LAST day of your fertile cervical fluid (you dry up really quickly after the 8-24 hours of ovulation. Basically, if you are wet, and your temp hasn't gone up.....GO FOR IT. And don't use any lubrication like KY....slows the spermies down. If y ou MUST use a lub try pre~Seed (you can buy it on intenet). Good luck future mamas.

To "charting mama" - First and foremost, congrats on your pregnancy! Did you get that triphasic curve? If so, please explain it to me. I ovulated over a week ago, and I still have a significant amount of CM. What happend with your BBT the month you didn't get pregnant and the month you did?
