I have a question girls. What are the real chances of getting pregnant while on birth control pills? I have a few friends who have gotten preg on them but i think at least 1 was secretly trying. So does anyone know what the odds are? Thanks!

if taken the right way they are about 99%full proof. however, i missed 2 pills and BAM! i found out i was pregnant 2 weeks later!

I was on bc for 10 years, missed pills ALL the time...seriously, like at least one pill per cycle and sometimes more...but never got pregnant. But as a side note I should also mention that I've been ttc for 6 months now with no success yet either :(

I've heard you can become pregnant even if you are late taking a pill - not to worry you! I don't know if that is accurate, but that's what I heard. If you usually take your pill say in the morning but you forget and take it later that day it can be enough time for the hormones to get out of whack and if the timing is right you could ovulate - and therefore be at risk of pregnancy. I think that's correct - anyone have any info to pa__s along? Hope that helps! :)

It also depends on the kind of pill you're on. The low-hormone pills like ortho-trycyclen lo have about a 96% effectiveness, whereas others like ortho-novum 7/7/7 have about a 99% effectiveness if used properly. I took the low hormone ones, and my body ovulated anyway. But that only happens with a small percentage of women. Just take your pills at the same time everyday and you should be okay. If you're too worried about it, use condoms as well.
