I never realized it until today that my pills are supposed to be taken in a certain order. I just started the pills the beginning of this month I was taking them like this: 1st row >>>>>>> 2nd row >>>>>>> 3rd row >>>>>>> 4th row >>>>>>> They should have been taken like this: 1st row >>>>>>> 2nd row <<<<<<< 3rd row >>>>>>> 4th row <<<<<<< I just started the 3rd row on Thursday. Anyway, I had s_x without any other form of birth control on friday. Should I be worried since I've been taking the pills out of order so far this month?

what type of birth control are you using? if it's ortho tricyclen, i can help.

Missy, I've never heard of this before, usually it is first row >>>> etc. Does your pill pkg have arrows indicating the direction you should go in?? If it is the other way, you should get to your doctor fast. If they aren't taken in the right order, there is a high change that you may get pregnant. It is still too early for even a blood test. My advise would be to stop taking the pill now (if you weren't taking it appropriately then it wasn't working for you anyway, you should get your period within about three days, PLEASE use another form of Birthcontrol along with your pills (taking the pills the right way this time) for the next month, because it takes at least one month for your pills to become affective. If you get your period when you stop taking the pill, then there is a good chance that you are NOT pregnant, but you should do a test around the time that your period was originally due, just incase. I hope this helps and remember that I am no expert, just offering advice.

Ovcon-35...does the brand matter though? Im still new with all of this!

Yes the package has the arrows but I was never told to go by them, I just noticed it myself. Shouldnt I still be protected? I mean each pill IS a birth control pill so it should still work right?

I wouldn't count on being protected it they weren't taken the right way. The direction they are takin in is based upon the level of hormone strength within each pill, if they aren't taken in the right direction, you may not be getting enough enough of the hormone at the appropriate times. Maybe you should contact your local clinic or pharmacist and ask them what they think.

I just a__sumed that I was taking them right because my doc told me that on the day I start my next period I should label the top, starting with the first pill on whatever day you start. So mine would be Thurs Fri Sat Sun Mon Tues Wed. So I figured I was doing it the correct way, but then noticed the arrows which didnt go allong with the day labels? It's confusing to me.

Missy, I know that you are confused and probably stressed. Try to go back to your Doctor at least then you will no for sure. And use another form of protection until you are sure. That's if you don't want to get pregnant. Good luck!!

Just wanted to let you know that I talked to my doctor. He said I was taking them correctly. He said the arrows are confusing at first, but >>>>>>> is the correct way. Thanks for your help!

NOT being mean at all but even though you are on birth control it is not 100% so you should use other protection also ecspecialy if you have multiple partners...did your doctor tell you that? and even when you get on the pill it does not get into your system and start working for 3 months you can ask anyone that and it says it on the pill directions so be careful
