Caffeine Amp TTC

I'm just curious as to what everyone is doing about cutting out coffee, tea, pop when they are ttc. I'm finding it really hard to give up my coffee and decaf just isn't doing it for me. What are some of the thoughts out there?

I'm in the same position, I gave up tea and coffee ( well almost!!) it was so hard. I drink fresh juice, water, or hot orange. I have my caffiene addict cuppa first thing in the morning. Its heaven!!!!!! :)

I need to stop the coffee. I've been out of control latley. I've tried to limit it to one small cup in the morning but by the afternoon I'm falling asleep at my computer. I may go to my health food store and see if there are any teas that help fertility...it won't be my coffee, but at least I can tell myself I'm doing something to make this baby happen!

melissa - i am a coffee junkie ! i stopped caffeine gradually last month getting ready for ttc this month. i started by doing caffeinated teas (green tea especially since it's the strongest). plus, it helped me have something warm and occupy me which is why i love the coffee at my computer in the morning. so then i would drink tea throughout the day. especially like you said, in the afternoon when i was literally falling asleep at my desk. it only took about a week to break the need for advil due to terrible headaches. it was a rough week. but it was sooooooo worth it ! i'm on my pre-natals too and between no caffeine and the vitamins, i've never felt better. the coffee was making me more tired than when i don't have it. i would highly recommend trying really hard for one week and see where you are. plus, i kept thinking, do i really want to be dealing with caffeine withdrawal when i'm dealing with morning sickness and god know what else ! just some advice from a fellow long-time coffee addict ! but i do have decaf coffee in the mornings just to make me feel like i'm having a little treat. but heard that has caffeine too, so must kick that habit too :-) whatever you decide good luck ! oh and there are fertility teas, but they are not caffeinated for obvious reasons :-)

I had trouble weening myself off caffiene to, I just cut back and eventually I was able to stop, every now and again I'll have some but I don't do it every day like I used to.. Green tea is a natural caffeine that is a antoxident (helps clean your system out). I've also heard that it helps with fertilty but I'm not 100% sure.. good luck

melissa - i've been reading up on fertility teas and have not read anywhere that green tea is one. it is the most caffeinated of teas along with black tea, so be careful of those if you're thinking you're not taking in any caffeine. i bought this decaf tea called "female toner" and is made by"traditional medicinals". i'm debating trying it as i read that unless consulting a doctor you really shouldn't mess with different herbs. i have read that no caffeine can help with fertility so be careful not to get hooked on the green and black teas.

I've researched green tea, and some say that it is really good and some say not to drink it. I've come to the conclusion that green tea is good, but get decaf green tea. I've been drinking a different kind of tea--rooibos tea. It is a red tea from south africa and the antioxidants are supposed to be 50 times stronger than the antioxidants in green tea. Tetley makes a vanilla rooibos tea which is delicious--and it is naturally decafinated. You should research rooibos and see all of the benefits of this tea.

wow, there's so much to think about eh? I think I will go to my health food store and talk to the woman there. She's really good about not selling things that don't work and will give an honest answer of what works. I'll let everyone know what I find out. The only thing I know is I have to cut out the caffiiene. The more reading I do I realize that caffiene can cause you not to ovulate...and I don't think we want that now do we :)

The only caffiene I ever drink (drank) was pop, but now I just buy caffeine free coke, pepsi, dr pepper...NOT diet, just caffeine free. It tastes the same to me
