I am 20 years old and me and my hubby are ttc....this is my 3rd month trying...I thought since I am 20 it shouldn't be that hard for me to conceive but oh well....does anyone have any suggestions for what to do? Last month I just knew I was pregnant..I had what I thought was implantation cramps and bleeind more than a week before my AF was due.....but then I had a very weird AF...but not pregnant. Anyway...any advice would be great!!

u should have s_x exactly 2 wks after your period started and you should be able to get preg. unless something is wrong in which case you should go to the dr. but my dr. told me 2wks after your period you are most fertal.Good Luck!

Actually the best thing for you to do is start charting to make sure you are even ovulating and when you are ovulating. You may ovulate BEFORE two weeks after your period and you would miss your oppurtunity.

I would start bd on day 10 of your cycle and you can stop by day 18....that shoudl do it. don't stress...you're young! you'll get preggo before you know it:) good luck!!

yeah dont stress I known a girl who was never on any bc and it took her 6 months with her first one and she got preg. at 22 so just relax it will happen

Tashara, what kind of advice is that?? Please educate yourself about pregnancy before you start throwing out BAD advices. Anyhow, Nurs2b24, like Kerilynh said, first you need to know if you’re ovulating by charting for at least 2-3 cycles (consecutively) to get an understanding of your body and the three phases it goes through (menses, follicular & luteal) And, to make it more accurate, get yourself some OPKs to cross check as well….then BD at your fertile phase. You can do all this on fertilityfriend.com. Good luck!!

TASHARA weren't you just on another thread asking what ovulating means? I am sure that you are just trying to be helpful, but you really don't know enough about this to be. nurs3b24 there is not much that I can add to what VenusdiMilo said she knows what she is talking about and knows a lot more about it then I do. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks you all very much! This helps a lot. I can usually tell when I am ovulating because of the discharge and I usually feel a twinge. Thanks for the help! I am so excited...I want this more than anything and it is nice to have help!

I don't really understand this charting stuff.....I've read some about checking your cervical fluid and BBT....How do I do this??

nurs2b24, you can get all the help you need at fertilityfriend.com “Charting Your Way To Conception” It is really simple…

Hi Nurse. There are tons of pages on charting available (many with conflicting information). Look up bbt. In a nutshell: take your temp every morning before you get out of bed, talk, eat, drink, move around etc. so you get the temp of your body at rest. Write it down. CD (cycle day) 1 is the first day you bleed (not spot slightly). 2 weeks (give or take a day but it's usually 12 to 15 days) before cd1 you ovulate (unless you don't ovulate that cycle, which can happen). After af (aunt flow) as you approach ovulation, your temps will be lower than they will after you O (ovulate), and your cm (cervical mucus) will go from clear/sticky to more creamy/lotion like to ewcm (egg white cm). The ewcm stretches like crazy when you get a glob between your finger and thumb and pull them apart. It will stretch lots and lots of times (as apposed to s____n which will stretch a few times and then not stretch any more). You should bd (baby dance) the most when you have ewcm as it's best for sperm to live in and should happen just before you ovulate. Also bd when it's creamy to be sure if you're really ttc (trying to conceive). After you O, your temps will go up about .4 degrees F and stay up until a day or 2 before (or the day of) af. If they stay up for 18 days, you're pg. All of this pins down your O to within a day or 2 or 3 (as I said, different sites give different info, so it's hard to tell with precision). Dollar Tree sells opk's (ovulation prediction kits) for a buck each, so I get mine there. Those test for a hormone LH, which surges 12 to 36 hours before you O. If you chart and use the opk's for a couple of months, you ought to be able to figure out when you O. My temp dips another tenth of a degree, then shoots up, and I'm always more tired the day it shoots up (progesterone?), so I think I O the day of the dip... I also leave the thermometer in way past the beep, sort of watching it out of the corner of my eye to see that it's stopped moving (basal digital, ex. it reads 98.62 or whatever my temp is), then I try a few other spots in my mouth to make sure I have an accurate temp each am. Sperm live 2 to 7 days if you're tta (trying to avoid {pg}), and 1 to 2 days if you're ttc. The egg's good for 24 hours if you're tta, 12 if you're ttc. Given that, you want to bd at least every other day for several days before you O (when interestingly, the cm is best AND we're most in the mood), and the morning your temp goes up just in case (although one study said once your temp goes up it's too late). I hope that helps. I've found it quite interesting to note how my mood and energy change during my cycle.... I'm glad I charted.

that was as opposed, not a... oops

Hi sososleepy! I haven't talked to you in a while....how are things going for you? Thanks for all the info. I'm a little lost with this stuff. I took my temp this morn and it was 97.7. I think I am suppose to ovulate the 10th or 11th so I guess we will see. I have a crazy gross question.....When me and my dh bd and he sends me all his spermies..hehe...sometimes i will wipe and I have a lot of his stuff on me...I just want to make sure that the sperm are getting up in there. I thought maybe thats just the fluid draining out and the sperm are still in there but I just wanted to make sure. Usually once he does ejaculate he will stay inside of me for a while....do you think he should pull out after he does or what...IDK

JustStartingOut - March 8

if you want o be on the safe side are trying to get pg, then he should stay in you for a few min. Some will always go the wrong way. thats why there is like 4 million of them!

nurs2b24 - March 8

okay so I went to the bathroom earlier and had a lot of discharge and it was def. just like egg whites and stretchy....could this be left over from dh or is it my stuff? Is it too soon to see discharge like that...i think i am supposed to O 10th or 11th.

Clinya - March 8

I would try charting your cycle so you know when you are ovulating and therefore know the best time to DTD. Also after DTD prop yourself up with your legs in the air - it helps the little swimmers :) Good luck
