can someone please explain the process of BBT Temp charting to me. I get the gyst, but don't really know how to. for the past three mornings, just for sport, I checked my temp using a digital thermometre (I realize that there is an actual BBT thermomentre, but they say that a digital would be ok) and my temp each moring was 98.3, my af is due on the 28th, anyone know if this could mean something?? Thanks much!!

The best bet is to buy the proper thermometer along with the instructions. As long as you are going to chart, chart cm as well. You have to chart for a few months in order to understand your personal cm and BBT cycle. Generally the temp jumps about 0.7F from below 98 to above 98 at ovulation. It stays high until a day or two before AF. If it stays high for 18 days or more, it is a strong indication. Follow the Grandpa Viv link at http://www.ppowb.org for more.

I recommend the book Taking Charge Of Your Fertility- it explains it all. In there it says: preovulatory temp-97.0-97.5, postovulatory temp- 97.6 - 98.8. After ovulation, the temp will stay elevated for 12-16 days later, her next period. (all of this isn't exact). If your temp stays up for 18 days after ovulation, then it's time to take a pregnancy test.
