Dark Line On Belly But Negative HPTs

My husband had a vasectomy over 3 years ago so I think I may be going crazy but at the beginning of this year I thought I may be pregnant due to some minor nausea I was experiencing and the fact that I was having some brownish-pink spotting a little over a week before my period was due. I took a Clear Blue Easy Digital test that showed "not pregnant." My period came right on time that month. In both February and March it came came at 21 days, which made me wonder because I am like clockwork at 28 days. Then in April it was back on track at the 28-day mark. I also noticed that sometime between the end of March through now I gained 8 pounds, which is very rare for me since I do not gain weight easily. The past few weeks I've been experiencing right wrist pain and dry eyes which I contributed to being on the computer too much. But this week I noticed a very faint line running from just above my belly button down to my pelvic area. From what I gather, this is linea nigra and can only be caused from pregnancy. I took another HPT today and it was negative. I guess I am confused by the negative HPTs, the fact that I am still getting my periods, and that my husband had a vasectomy. I already called the doctor but because I would be a new patient, they can't see me for another 2 weeks, even just to draw blood for a blood test. My symptoms seem to be coinciding with 4-5 months along but can this be right?

I believe that line will only come once your belly begins to stretch drastically. It is your muscle that is strecthcing and I doubt that it happens in early pregnancy. At 4 -5 months pregnant would would be showing a postive and growing belly.

It sounds to me like youre definitely not pregnant. I've got that faint line down my belly, and I'm not pregnant and haven't been for 16 years.

I'd say wait until the blood test to ease your mind, if not pregnancy, then the Doc could help you figure out whats really going on.....Linea Negra is caused by pregnancy hormones that increase production of the pigment melanin. This is also known as hyperpigmentation. Fair skinned women show this symptom less often than women with darker pigmentation. Linea negra tends to appear around the second trimester. I am olive skinned and had it all my pregnancies pretty early on. God bless darlin...keep us posted!

I've read the same thing Jeanette said. But like I said, it's obviously not only pregnancy that causes it, because I've got it too.

Lin, so you have a line like this too? I tried to research this but it all comes back to relating to pregnancy and I have never been pregnant before. Guess all these weird symptoms are related to my turning 30 a few months ago (LOL).

Who knows. Maybe it is. I just noticed the line on my belly within the last few years, and I'm going to be 34 next month!

Google - wrist pain dry eyes - to come up with a number of other reasons to visit the doctor, for example http://www.sjogrensyndrom.se/e_what.html (one underscore, no hyphens). Your story does not sound much like pregnancy. Good luck!
