Tanveer- Usually the way to tell when the pregnancy began is to count days from the first day of her last menstrual period. In a normal cycle, ovulation occurs on Day 14 and if she has intercourse around that day the chances of conception are higher. If the egg is fertilised it moves to the uterus and implants a few days to a week later. There are online calculators where you can put in the first day of her last period and it will tell you when conception happened and when the due date is. Congratulations!

I think there is some confusion here. This early, the only way a doctor can know when she got pregnant is by asking when the last menstrual period began, and that is normally how a doctor defines a pregnancy even though conception takes place 12 to 16 days later. Some women bleed even though they are pregnant. Some women bleed a little at the moment of implantation. Let me guess that your wife's last true period was March 9th, you had intercourse March 21st, she ovulated and conceived March 23rd, she bled at implantation March 31st, which is the date she gave the doctor when he asked when she last bled. Without thinking, he put that down as the last period - an impossibility since if true she would not have ovulated yet this month.
