Dh To Get Tested

Hello all. I used to come on here frequently under baby poops thread. we kinda all dwindled from here. Anyway i'm 25 ttc #1. My ob put me on 100 mg clomid cd 5-9. I am on cd 13 today. My question is my ob suggested to have my dh go and get his sperm count tested. I advised dh on this but he isn't really up for it. Any suggestions on how i can help him to go in to get it tested???

Does he have to go in? My husband just got a sample in a sterile cup and I took it to the lab. Of course you have to keep it warm so I put it under my armpit as I drove 20 miles to take it in. LOL! That's what my dr said to do, either that or between the legs. Hehehe. Too funny!

He can do it at home. I don't know about all drug stores, but at Walgreens there is a male fertility test in the pregnancy test section. I don't know if it will give you immediate results, or if you have to send it off to a lab like you do with the drug tests, but he wouldn't have to go in to an actual doctor office.

I didn't know they had OTC male fertility tests!! That could come in handy! I've been off bcp for 6 months now but only really actively trying for 3 months. My doc said to come back in April if not preggo by then and I can't see my DH being willing to do a sperm count either! If we could do one at home I think he'd be up for it though. I may have to check in to that. Thanks kay for the info!

My dh had it done and the results were not good at all. However, it was nice to finally know why all our efforts were not paying off for 9 months of trying. I would recommend having it checked!! AT least if something is wrong, you can try to fix it!

I remember my husband saying over and over, "I can't wait to get this checked out, so you can mark me off the top of your list of problems with getting pregnant!" Well, lets just say he stayed at the top!

Maybe after a couple more months my DH will be more willing to get tested. Of course he's a man and can't possible think that there could be something wrong with him!

If he smokes or drinks at all it can lower his sperm count. Taking hot baths can too because they little guys like to be nice and cool. Try looking up online ways men can help increase their sperm count. I bumped into when I was trying to find how long it takes sperm to reach an egg.

Yes, it was a very humbling experience for him! Of course, i am almost ashamed to say that his infertility is the result of a mild use of steroids! Now looking back, I wish I had been smart enough to get him checked sooner, considering the circ_mstances. However, he has vowed to never, ever do them again, even after we get pregnant (that is if things get back to normal). The doctor says that 95% of men get sperm counts back to normal. Let's hope we're in that group. He goes back for his followup this upcoming Thursday. I hope there is something there!!

All men do stupid things but that's why we love them right?! My DH loves his weekends off and drinks with the guys but I go out with him one night a weekend and have a few drinks myself. I know that could decrease our chances but as of now we haven't been told to change our lifestyle. The biggest thing I hear from my friends is just to enjoy each other and do whatever we like as far as BDing. You'll get so caught up in the moment that the pressure of making a baby goes away. Just remember to elevate those hips after he ejaculates!! haha
