I am the mother of four and I am now in my early fourties. I come from a large family and my mother had her last child at 42. My youngest is now eight. At ovalation in August (the 6th to be exact), I wasn't thinking and had s_x. About two weeks later I noticed my tummy seemed to be swelling. A week later it was only larger. My br___ts have gotten larger and a little sore but really no weight gain anywhere else....just the tummy area. And I know it's crazy to acually be excited over the posibility of being pregnant at my age even though I'm pretty healthy, strong, and somewhat in shape.... but for almost three weeks I have been consumed constantly with the hope that I might just be. It would have really been a blessing for me and the childs father... he's also 42 and has prayed for a child and a wife and he loves me (we are not married). Sadly however, I woke up this morning and looks like my period finally made it's way home. My last period was the third week in July. Today is Sept 3. Four weeks to the day since we had s_x... I know I will get over it but my heart is broken. I thought one more chance at motherhood with a beautiful new baby. It's what I do best and the part of life I love the most. Oh well... keep your chins up girls and god luck to those of you who feel as strongly about having a baby as I do/did.

jayne - I do wish u well too. i understand how u feel, but u already have four wonderful children, so u r four times luckier than many of us here. :) Of course, not that it'll be any easier, cos being pregnant can be such a wonderful experience to go through. Still, I wish you the best. Take care.

Thanks hyde. You are sweet. Yes, this makes me no less thankful for my older children. And you're right, they are wonderful. But you know what? I'm still not convinced that there isn't yet a possibility because I have been reading so many posts on this site and elsewhere who have expressed many of my own symptoms. I know my body prettty well and what is happening with my tummy is definately not the norm for beginning my period. Plus, I have had alot of heartburn through the night that I failed to mention. Some mornings I get very dizzy and feel faint when I suddenly get up out of a chair and what I am calling a period today is a dark brown discharge. I don't think I'm ready just yet to give up on hope.... anyone out there who had brown/bloody discharge during early weeks? Looking for a sliver of hope.
