I hear of these women who are pregnant and have undetectable hcg levels for long periods of time so I'm curious if OV will take place again? I know lots of these women continue to have AF so is Ov continuing as well? Isn't the HCG the trigger which stops OV?

I don't see why it would continue if your pg. That's something I want to know as well.

Yeah, I know it doesn't seem as though it would nor does it seem as though women should continue to menstruate but they do! Weird! Is this a response to continued OV? And if Hcg is too low to detect on hpt's I wonder if it's too low to stop further ovulation. I ask this because I've missed two AF but it seems as though I continue to OV!

Hello Layla, I luv your name!!!!LOL I have heard that women can ovulate when they mis a period and some can even ovulate twice in a month. I wish I had more info to help, nice to see you again though.

Hope I get this right. The hCG is a marker for pregnancy, but it is not one of the hormones involved in the regular cycle. The Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and Luteinising hormone (LH) are responsible for ovulation, and their production is suppressed during pregnancy. As far as ovulatin twice is concerned, the literature suggests that on the occasions that it does happen it is in the other ovary, and within 24 hours. This might result in fraternal twins. The first trimester bleeding is not considered true menstruation - if the uterine lining were shed the embryo would be lost.
