EXTREMELY Faint Line

Hi, I posted yesterday asking if it was to early to test, well I went sraight to the store and straight home and took the test. I guess I was in a rush and did not take a good look at how the windows looked before I tested. I took an EPT, and after I tested I sat there for a few minutes like it says and the two lines came up extremely quick, I thought, ok I am not pg. Then I went to throw the stick away and I looked closer and the window that is supposed to be a plus sign if you are pg had a VERY VERY VERY faint line across, almost like it started to come up and then stopped. For those of you who have taken an EPT can you give me an insight on this. . .what should be a solid line across if you are pg looks like 4 tini tiny dashed lines. . .?Thanks a bunch in advance for all those who respond!

I had a faint line just as your saying you had and i'm now 8 weeks. When are you due to have your period? You probably don't have enough hcg to get a solid line. I had enough hcg to get a forsure line when i was 1 day late for my period. Hope that helps.

Like Mrs o said, your hcg levels are probably still low. Just test again in a day or 2. Or if you're like me, test every day just to watch it get darker. LOL Really, though, wait a day or 2, test again, and you should see a dramatic difference in the darkness of the line. Congrats, and good luck!

Thanks Mrs O, I am now apprx. 10 days late. So you got a faint line and are for sure pg? So this is a good sign for me?

Do you think if I go to a family Planning office today and take a test that I have any better luck there?

I, too, got very faint lines with my second child, and the other 2 times I've been pregnant (miscarriages). I test early because I'm impatient, therefore, I've gotten several faint lines, and they always gradually got darker.

I don't mean to be cutting in on the questions you ask Mrs o, but I think those places use the test sticks that measure about 20 mIU. Which is a lot lower than EPT. I think they detect something like 40-45. So you might get a bit darker line at the clinic. Or you could go buy a First Response Early Result, they are sensitive. Someone on here said the Dollar Store sells one that tests for 20 mIU. And lastly, you could always request a blood test. Good luck, and keep us posted!

Thanks M, I will have to go check out the dollar store. I am impatient like so many other people :0), but I think 10 days is pretty late but yet at the same time I don't want to be spending $12 a day on tests for them to be unclear :0)

Any of you have any thought or sugestions on why I am having cramping like I am going to start today? I mean I guess in all reality I could just be "late" but if not I don't like the feeling of this :0(

Yes i'm forsure preg. I went to my dr. after i was 2 days late and he confirmed it with a urnine test. I already knew i was though. Since your 10 days late yes i would go to the dr. I walked in, no appt. needed the nurse took my sample and a couple of min. later she came out to the waiting room and said "yes you are preg". Oh and an hour or two before you go don't drink anything so the hcg won't get diluted, you will have high level of hcg in your urine that way. Good luck.

Thanks Mrs O, I had a huge cup of tea this morning about 6:15am (it is now 7:40am here) so I should wait another hour or so before I even head out to go get a test, and without drinking anything else?

Hey ladies! I am 3 days late and have took 2 test both neg.. I am trying to wait till sat morning to test again..

tiffani - January 6

Sarah, I remember reading that you should wait 4 hours after having something to drink before you take your test, to allow your urine to concentrate.

Sarah - January 6

Thanks Tiffani, I am actuall thinking about waiting until 10:30 or so, which will have been the 4 hours.

tiffani - January 6

Don't forget to update us afterwards. Good luck!

Sarah - January 6

Oh I won't forget to update. Two hours is a long time of anticipation :0). I am having some discharge, is this normal?

Mrs o - January 6

I agree the longer you can wait to have something to drink the better. If you can stand 4 hours great. it will even be better. I had some discharge, aske the nurse when you go in. Good luck.
