First Response Early Result was one of the most sensitive consumer tested. It gave a positive as low as 6.5, normal hCG is under 3, and most sensitive tests advertise testing at 25. False positives most often occur when a woman gets a positive before her period and the pregnancy is lost at the first period. I'm not sure where JG is coming from. If she knows she got a false positive, why is she going for a blood test? Maybe she means a false negative, which is common.

melissa- Grandpa Viv is right. Usually when you test positive before your period is due then later go on to get your period it means you probably were pregnant, but just had a very early miscarriage.. which can also be called a chemical pregnancy when it is that early. They say that is the down side of testing early because most women would have never known that they had conceived if they had never tested.. and these early miscarriages happen a lot. And taking a blood test after your hpt's started turning neg again is pointless.. because the hcg is first detected in the blood and then in the urine, and if you had one of these early miscarriages .. the hcg is the first to leave the blood and later the urine. This has happened to me twice in the past 6 months. Hang in there... and good luck
