Glob Of CM

I had a very light pinkish spotting on March 22 (implantation bleeding?) which only lasted an hour or so. A few hours later before urinating, noticed a large glob of clear mucus, almost like rubber cement, that I wiped out on the toilet paper. I used to get smaller gobs of mucus after ovulating with Mittleschemertz pains. Home pregnancy tests reveal negative results. Could the large glob be just a result of ovulating, or could it be part of the cervical mucus plug forming? Is this normal?

It could have been from either. Sorry can't give you a decisive answer. Did you already ovulate? Did you bd the night before? Sometimes I get that after we bd and mistake that for cm.

Yes I did ovulated and not we did not have s_x the night before. I am not due for my period for another week or so, so is it possible to be the beginnings fo a cervical mucus plug that sloughed off? I guess we have to wait and see if I menstruate. Thanks-

I couldn't imagine what else it would be then.

sorry, I thought of this after I submitted that. Did you try to check your cm internally? Stick a clean finger in until you touch cervix. If it was the beginning of a plug, there might be more up there. sorry if that's gross!

To behonest, I am hesitant to do that only because I do not know if I touch my cervix and there is more up there, is there a chance I might loosen whatever is up there? If I loose the rest of it, will I miscarry if there is no plug and I am pregnant? Just wondering how important the plug is.

I am sure that it wouldn't make you miscarry b/c it's such a popular way of checking. However, I do understand your concern.

It's much too soon to place any faith in hpt. The posts we have on globs of mucus I have put down to mucus plug formation, but this is the first I have seen it suggested it could happen coincident with implantation. You would think it would take several days for the body to realize it had to get busy on this issue. Good luck!

It's funny that we've been talking about it b/c last night and this am I had it too. However, I just ovulated the other day, so I don't know!

I just found this: Why do I have eggwhite cervical fluid after I have already ovulated? Some cervical fluid after ovulation is possible because the corpus luteum, though its main function is to produce progesterone, produces estrogen in small amounts. This may cause you to see some fertile-looking cervical fluid, even after ovulation. If your temperatures and other signs show clearly that you have already ovulated, then you can be confident that you are no longer fertile. It is also not uncommon to confuse s____n and eggwhite or watery cervical fluid. Some women also notice some fertile-looking cervical fluid just before menstruation. However, if your chart does not show clearly that you have already ovulated (with a clear and sustained thermal shift) do not stop having intercourse. Keep on considering the possibility that you are still fertile as long as you see fertile cervical fluid to make sure you don't miss a chance to conceive.
