Are you taking clomid or something to stimulate ovulation? If you are the dorcor is most likely looking to see if they can see a c_mulus oophorus. A c_mulus oophorus is a mature ovarian follicule about to "rupture'' and release an egg ie:ovulation.

I have had this done, & I think anything over 19mm is considered mature & anything up to 24mm (or maybe 26mm?) is great. Once they get much bigger than this, they can be too big & hard for the sperm to penetrate. Obviously the more mature foillicles you have, the better chance you have of becoming pg.! What AMB said about Clomid is also correct. Good luck!

I am a sonographer...and the thresholds for a mature follicule can vary a little but I say anything between 1.8 cm and 2.5 cm is mature (anything over you have an ovarian cyst - or if the cyst lingers past 2 cycles and is larger than 1cm it is also just an ovarian cyst...but that isn't what you want to know about), but again it varies. If you are on Clomid or other ovulation stimulants the threshold can be more..................there is another important reason to get frequent ultrasound if you are on ovulation stimulants...they can cause your ovaries to become hyperstimulated (producing a lot of enlarged follicules)..this can be a life threatening dangerous situation ..it is also pretty rare (google it and check it out)....not trying to scare you, but just giving you the facts of why the Dr. may be doing a ultrasound to check follicules....it is most likely just to check and make sure that you are producing follicules and indeed ovulating...
