Help With Temping Please

This is my first month temping and I'm kind of cofused. I have irregular cycles, my last was 50 days. My temps were 97.8 while on af then dropped to 97.5. stayed that way until cd14 then dropped to 97.1, cd 15 was 97.5 then 97.8 on cd17. since then they've been all over the map with a high of 98 on cd31, and a low this morning, cd34 ,of 96.8. I know that is alot of info, but if anybody could help me figure out what is going on it would be of great help.

Wow, I would say you ovulated on cd 15 after that .4 dip in temp...but I have no clue about long cycles like that, mine is only 28 days. Have you tested yet to see if your pg? You should post your chart url to let some of the girls take a look and tell you what they think. Are you temping at the same time every morning before you get out of bed? Not doing it before moving around or getting up, and at the same time every day will sometimes cause erratic temps. Sorry....lol...I prolly didnt help you much.

Seeing that you had a 50 day cycle last time, maybe the temp today was a pre-ovulation dip? That would give you a luteal phase of around 16 days, which is pretty normal......Just a thought.

I usually temp within an hour each morning. I haven't tested yet, after last month I decided to wait a little longer. It is really frustrating to get those bfn. I'm not sure how to post my chart. i hope that i don't ovulate right now, dh is working graveyard. what is a luteal phase?

I would guess that today might be your ovulation dip day, as Jeanette said above. It's really hard to know. If this is your first cycle temping, then it's the test phase. It will be a lot clearer by the end of the month. Sorry, I know that doesn't help ahead of time, but I just don't see a real pattern so far. Best of luck with it!

Your luteal phase is the time from ovulation to your period, and it remains relatively constant. It is anywhere from 10 to about 17 days long. It's the first part of your cycle, before ovulation, that varies when you're irregular. I suggest using opks. It would be most cost effective to buy the internet cheapies and buy them by the hundreds. You'll need lots of your cycles are that irregular.

So does that mean that i am just getting ready to ovulate?

Lin - March 29

You just might have ovulated today. If you see an increase tomorrow and more the next day, then it will be more clear. I wish I could be more exact, but it's not so easy when your periods are irregular. The best you can do is keep bd-ing every other day. Again, good luck!

hey ladies...i wanted to know after ovulation dip, does ovulation occur bout a day or so after? how much of a fertile window is there? i had a ovulation dip and the next day temp was higher.

thank you for your answers. we bd'd the 26th, won't have another chance until tomarrow night. not great timing. having such strange and long cycles seems to be almost cutting our chances in half. very frustrating. to miamia06 i'm not sure about temps, but i think that the window of opportunity is about 2-3 days. my temp dipped yesterday to 96.8 and it was 97.6 today. it will be interesting to see what it is in the morning.

Lin - March 29

miamia, when I've had a temp dip, it's always been the day of ovulation. It sounds like it's the same for you if your temp went up the next day. The day of ovulation is always the day *before* your temp goes up.

Well, I thought ovulation was the day your temp did go up across the cover line. The OPK might show positive a day earlier when the temps are still low, but OPK does not confirm ovulation. Mommy3, if this is planning to be another 50 day cycle, ovulation is likely CD36 (14 days before AF). Until you know your cover line the temps are of academic interest, but for many it is around 98F. Be sure to temp before rising when the alarm goes off at the same time each morning. You can chart on line at www.fertilityfriend.com. Good luck!

thank you

Lin - March 29

I'm pretty sure about that, Grandpa Viv. Everything I've read says the day before your temp increases, and that's what Fertility Friend calculates it as for me.

Lin - March 29

Ok, even though I was quite positive with my last post (or I'd have been screwing up for months!), I checked Taking Charge of Your Fertility just to be sure. Ovulation is definitely the day before the temp increase. It is the increase in progesterone from ovulation that causes the temp to go up, therefore it can only go up once ovulation has occurred.

my temp went up to 97.6 today, so should i expect it to go up more tomarrow if i ovulated yesterday?. That is kind of what happened on cd14,15,and16.

Thanks lin...I need your opinion for another question. I bd, the day before and day after. I bd almost the same day but right before midnight. What do u think of my chances of conception. I was thinking slim to none.
