High HCG In Early Pregnancy

We are about 14 or 15 days after conception and our HCG level came back at 13,000. This seems awfully high (off most of the charts!). Most info out there talks about low numbers but there is very little on high HCG. They told us we dont need a 2nd test (as we are very pregnant) and have scheduled an Ultra sound for 1/7. (about6 weeks)We are still quite nervous only thing we have read about high numbers is that it could be a molar pregnancy which clearly isn't good.. any help would be appreciated so we can sleep!

http://www.obfocus.com/questions/qanda7.htm (no hyphens in that URL) shows how variable hCG can be. At the high end they show 13000 between 5 and 6 weeks after LMP. You are pushing their chart, but only by a week or so. Good luck!

http://www.americanpregnancy.org/duringpregnancy/hcglevels.html (still no hyphens) covers the same ground in better detail. You are right about molar being a possibility, but also multiple embryos and miscalculating the date figure in. If you ovulated a week early (it happens) you would be in range. The ultrasound is referenced on the site, but also the advisability of a second hCG to check accuracy of the first.
