How Long Does An Egg Survive

I have been watching my cm for the last 3 months. This month, it disappeared faster than I expected. I think that I ovulated on the 23rd. Realizing that I had missed my cm changes, my husband and I had s_x on the 24th in the morning. What are the odds that my egg was still fertile? My af isn't due until 5/9, and this waiting is driving me crazy!!

Renea- The generally accepted time for egg viability is 12-24 hours. You might have gotten lucky. Best wishes!

I beleive that an egg stays good for 72 hours so I think you are still in the fertile window.

Also, I know that when your cm is egg white like, that is fertile time. But when it is at its peak-it that the time of ovulation, or is it just after that time?

I don't think the egg lasts longer than 24 hours--but it is hard to know exactly when you ovulated, so you might have gotten lucky--I have read that when your cm is egg white that it is fertile and that you usually get it right before you ovulate. That type of cm helps keep the sperm alive longer waiting for the egg, so it is best to have s_x a few days before, if possible! **dust

I think that is an individual thing. You would have to chart and correlate cm with temp rise over several months to know how it workes for you. ovusoft.com has lots of charts for you to look at that will give you an idea. Good luck
