okay, so this is my first month ttc...i started charting on day 12 temp was 97.8, 13 was 97.7 14 was 97.4 15 was 97.3, 16 was 97.7 and 17 was 97.9 and today was 97.9 I am new to this but based on what i know it looks like i o'd on day 15 right? my cm was off or wasn't as present i think because of the bding.... we bd'd on day 12, 13, and 14- I am looking for any advice or suggestions - do you think i timed things right?

It looks to me as though you have not O-ed yet. Your temperature should jump at least into the 98s once you O, given your coverline of about 97.7. How long are your cycles typically? Have you recently stopped birth control?

no, i have not been on bcp for 10 years?? my cycles are anywhere from 28-30 days... i was thinking that going form 97.3 to 97.7 indicated ovulation??? what do you think??? ps- thanks for responding : )

No, your temperature is only about 0.2 above your earlier temperatures. It really should be 0.4 or more. That said, my temps started out at 98.0 this month and only went up to 98.2 right after O, but they also started high. My normal pre-O temps are usually closer to 97.7. All you can really do is wait a few more days and see if it goes higher. I'm guessing that you'll probably see a jump up to at least 98.2-98.4. If you don't see another jump, then you could probably consider cd 15 your O day. Have you been monitoring your cervical position? You should feel your cervix rise, soften and open as you approach ovulation. I find this combined with temping gives a pretty accurate estimate for me. It would probably also be a good idea to use opks next month, since they're your best bet to try to estimate O in advance. Temps can only tell you afterward. Good luck!

this is so confusing- i have never checked my cervix before, i am thinking that I o'd because my cm is drying up? could i just have lower temps in general?

elizajane - try checking out the website www.conception.lifetips.com and click on the fertility charting category. They have some info on temping that you may find helpful. It will even tell you how to establish your coverline. Good luck!

thanks- i checked the site...i am hypo-thyroid, so that could be why my temps are low, but it is has been treated for the past two years and I am on medication daily, i guess everyone is different...

The temperature thing can be mind-boggling...I agree with Lin, try using OPK's and that will take out some of the guesswork next time. If you have access to a Dollar Tree Store their ovulation tests seem to work pretty well - at least for me - and won't break the bank! Baby dust!

thanks- i was hoping not to even start any of this at all and just not think about it, but i saw the basal thermometer and bought it....i am pretty regular with my cycles and I think i did o'd on day 14 or 15 like i think i always do, maybe i am taking my temps inaccurately....if i dont conceive this month than i will try the test next month- baby dust to you too!

Well, I'm not a doctor, so I can't really say for sure, but I would guess that if your thyroid function is under control, your temps should be normal. At any rate, one would still expect a larger increase above your highest previous temp. I guess all you can do is wait it out and ask your doctor about it if you don't see a higher rise.

elizajane - January 29

thanks- i have no idea what to think, i am new to all of this, at this point i am going to wait it out and hope for the best, everyone is different right?

Bing - January 29

No need to fret just yet as you said this is only your first month TTC! I too didn't think I'd have to do all this "planning" when I first started (ttc 8 mos)- but it's a trickier process than I realized. You could always schedule a general appt w/your OB to go over any questions and to cover all your bases. Might put your mind at ease too...

thanks- i have an appointment feb 12th- i went back in october to see both by ob/gyn and my endo (thyroid doctor) to make sure everything was okay... i just hate the waiting : ) thank goodness for this website...it helps to have someone to talk it out with, maybe i am temping wrong or my temps are different, but i feel i o'd and bd'd at good times, so i am going to be positive and go crazy at the same time- good luck to you! would this be your first?

Bing - January 29

Yes, hopefully if it ever happens! The temps, as I understand it, you have to do for about 3 months to really understand what kind of pattern is going on - so keep at it and hopefully it'll start making sense. But, from your original post it sounds as if you are bd'ing on the right days. We've been doing the same, but no luck yet. Also, I've learned that it's possible not to always ovulate every month. I think for some people it just happens quickly and for others it - for whatever reason - takes some time. At least this is the mindset I'm in so as to NOT drive myself crazy! I'm going on my 2nd cycle with fertility specialist doing ultrasounds to pinpoint ovulation so we'll see if it works! I should be officially in the 2ww as of tomorrow. Good luck at your appointment - I'm sure your BFP is around the corner!

elizajane - January 29

yeah- its easier said than done, but try not to drive yourself crazy, atleast you are being pro-active and seeing a specialist, it will all work out for you, just be positive, its funny b/c i never thought ttc would make me in to a crazy lady- even my dh thinks i am nuts, every morning when i take my temp, at first he did not know why, but everything will happen with God's time...thanks for listening and please keep me posted- i hope this is a good month for all of us!

Bing - January 29

Oh, my DH totally thinks I'm nuts! He thinks all the temping, opk's, green tea, prenatal vitamins, and dr. appts are crazy...if teens can do it then we can is his theory! Right! I hate the waiting too, but unfortunately it's what we have to do. :) At least you know you're not the only crazy lady out there! It good to know there's people out there who are going through the same frustration!

elizajane - January 29

my dh did not know that there is a "window" for getting pg, he thought it could just happen at any time of the month....i get so upset when I hear of people not trying or not wanting to be pg....just believe, everything will work out for you...
