I M Not Pregnant Am I

i feel a little silly... i'm 25, and a bit concerned. my br___ts have been sore for about four weeks. they felt at first like they normally would the week before my period. then my period was late, and only lasted a very short time, and my br___ts are still sore, like three weeks later. on top of that i've been complately exhausted, and have had headaches every day for the past month and a half or so, and cramps in the past week or so (i never, ever get cramps, normally) . the birth control method we use is far from fail-safe (my husband pulls out), so... what are your thoughts? i think i'm not pregnant because i did get a (albeit short and late) period... but i'm really curious as to other's thoughts...

How long did your period last? How light? Have you dared to test yet? The symptoms sound like you could be. With my last pregnancy, I got prego while on the patch, but was only on it for like 2 weeks so we were using the withdrawl method. I got prego with just one time.

actually I was on it for 4 weeks so it should have been effective. Anyway we were still doing the WD method just in case.

Well if he's pulling out, then you definitely could be pregnant, because not only is "pulling out" not fail safe - it isn't a birth control method at all! On the other hand, even if your period was short, if it was any kind of a substantial flow at all, it's very unlikey that you're pregnant.

it lasted like 3 days from the first sign until it was totally gone. usually its like 6 days at best. havent dared test yet. being pregnant wouldn't be a terrible thing or anything - its just not what we planned for right now in our lives... husband is still in college and everything. i'm confused though at getting a period, but having these other symptoms which i've never had before...

One in four pregnancies experiences some kind of bleed at period time in the first treimester. Check your folic acid intake (Folate in bread and cereal) in case you are as this is important in the first 7 weeks. Good luck!

Yeah, but the most common form of any bleeding during pregnancy is spotting. Anything more than that is not very common. xx, I've had a couple periods recently that were less than one day long, and mine are normally 5 days long. Of course, you should still consider the possibilty of being pregnant and test if your period is late. Above all else, you should use protection next time! Don't risk your husband's education! An education is one of the most important things in life, right up there with kids.

Lin: when I was pregnant with my twins I bleed quite heavily for 2 days. The doctor told me this was IB. It is possible to have flow and still be pregnant. I just wanted tou to know that it is possible because it happened to me.

So, this was a week ago, and now I'm late as well. Also the past few nights when I get up to pee I am very nauseous (but not at all durring other times of the day). I've had a limited apet_te (well I keep thinking I'm starving, then I go to eat, take about 2 bites and cant eat anymore), and today I have cramps (very very rare, and these are not AF type cramps.. different although I cant explain it). Whats going on with me?! :(

Lin - May 3

Penny - I never said that it wasn't possible, just that it's not common. xx - Take a pregnancy test! All we can do is speculate. The truth of the matter is at your disposal.

I agree with Lin. The more common is actually not bleeding or spotting at all. The women who do have it is more commonly spotting than actual heavy bleeding.

A friend of mine had her regular period the entire time she was pregnant. She was 3 or 4 months pregnant when she went into the doctor to go on the pill. When the doc did her smear she found out she was pregnant. It is possible to bleed while you are pg. And her little boy was born with absolutely no problems, no complications during the pregnancy and now he's a healthy, active 5-year-old. Take a test, go to your doctor, that's the only way to know.

SaraLynn , there is no such thing of having your regular period while pregnant.....In order to have her regular period that would mean she was ovulating and capable of concieving while pregnant. It was not a period it was just bleeding which is not common in pregnancy!

I AM a period baby!! LOL....my mom had her period, lighter than normal but more than spotting, for the first 3 months of her pregnancies. Her pregnancy with the twins she had a bit more bleeding...I dont know the reason behind that, but she did. xx, I guess testing or going to the Doc could help a bit more than we can....hope it turns out well for ya! God bless!

Emma2 - May 4

Jeanette, I understand that it is possible but to call it a period is not right....Its actually just bleeding.

jeanette - May 4

Oh, and I say it was a "period" because the bleed came at the time she would have her normal period.....but we all know that you can't really have a true "period" during pregnancy, don't we....?

jeanette - May 4

LOL Em.....just give me a minute to clarify, will ya?? Geez.....ROTFL!!
