I M Sad HCG Is 2 But 9 Days Late Blighted Ovum

I think I semi-miscarried. I am 9 days late and yesterday I went to the doctor for a blood test and today I called for the results and she said that I needed to re-test because I am a "2" - VERY low for being this late. My brother-in-law is a doctor and thinks it is blighted ovum. I don't know much about that except basically I semi-got pregnant and it didn't hold. Anyone had this? Thanks for your help. I love this site.

I'm sad for you, too. If you Google blighted ovum I think you will find that hCG levels rise and you think you are pregnant, but because there is only a gestational sac and no embryo, you will expel everything at some time in the first trimester. That doesn't match what you are experiencing too well. Would a follicular cyst churning out hormones explain it better? I should know not to argue with a doctor, though. Stick with it, Jena!

THANK YOU, Grandpa Viv. I hope I don't have a cyst. I guess I have to wait out this next blood test - if the hCG levels rise, it could be good - if they haven't, then hopefully my period will come soon so i can return to normal and try again. I hope this isn't a long, drawn-out process. It's my first time thinking I"m pregnant and this happens :(.

I wish you luck. I went to the doctor when I was already like two weeks late and the nurse told me the results as "just barely pregnant" I said what the hell is that, and she said they would retest again. I don't know much about levels or anything, but everyone can be different. Don't get too discouraged before you know for sure.

thank you Saird - good luck to you too!! I have my second blood test tomorrow - when are you going in again?
