Is Breast Discharge Normal Does Everyone Have It Or

I have discharge from my br___ts, but only after I gently squeeze lightly. The first squirt is clear, then it is milky. I have not had any children, but I could be pregnant. I want to know if this is common, or is it a good sign that I could be pregnant? If it is common in non-pregnant woman, how come I have never had it before? Any information would be greatly appreciated. It just seems really strange that I am waiting to find out if I am pregnant or not, and this happens. I don't want to get excited if it is normal. Thanks...

I dont think this is normal but Im not a doctor.. Do you feel for lumps on a regular basis??

Syd - January 4

I do not feel any lumps normally. Should I be concerned? My b___sts feel 'full'.

I only think it normal to have something come from your b___bs when your lactating(sp) I dont want to scare you though because im not a doc and could be completly wrong. Maybe someone who knows whta they are talking about will respond to you, Ask Granpa Viv..

Thanks for your input. I just want to know if I should be freaking out or not. I hope it's a normal symptom of pregnancy. I hope I do not have something wrong. If I have increased hormones and am not pregnant, I want to know why.

I was searching the internet, and this is the only thing I found. 'She says that women may notice colostrum at any point during a pregnancy. "Leaking colostrum and not leaking colostrum are both normal," explains Fjeld. "This has no bearing on milk production after the baby is born." With that being said, I still don't know if my discharge is related to an early pregnancy sympom or not. Anyone got any other information? Thanks.

I found more info in case someone else is interested. "The milky b___st nipple discharge is a symptom, not a cause of anything. Often it is the result of an elevated prolactin or milk hormone. Normally that hormone is only elevated in pregnancy. The rest of the time, the brain secretes a prolactin-inhibiting factor. Sometimes medications or stress or medical conditions can disturb this inhibiting factor and the result is an elevated prolactin level and then a milky nipple discharge begins. There does not need to be an elevated prolactin all of the time; sometimes local b___st and nipple factors just stimulate the milk production. " info from http://www.wdxcyber.com/nbleed6.html

I have a little and he is 3y old now and I was b___st feedomg for about 6 months. After two years I was leaking b___st milk. I didn't put any pressur on my b___st for the milk come out so I decided to ask a nurse is this normal because every now and then I felt a bit of a leak. First question the nurse asked "Are you pregnant?" Well of course I wasn't so she couldn't help much just wait it out till it goes away. I was worried a bit since the last thing I want is b___st cancer develop from this. Anyways it stopped a few month after that. A week ago it started again. Once a day now I am upto many times a day. It's a clear liquid and not milky yet, but I know I'm pregnant and that's the reason for me it came back. Have you tried HP test?

I have a little boy, lol I left out the "boy" word.

Anna, thanks for your help. I tested, and got a big fat negative. Sucks big time, but I am not due to start until the 8-9. I will wait to see if I miss, then I will test again. My b___st soreness is not as bad, but last night I had discharge again when I squeeze lightly. How far pregnant are you? What started first, your leakage or your positive test?

Anna - January 5

The negative test means nothing at this point because for many women it happens if they are too early in the process. My b___st started leaking before the positive test. I don't know how far I'm into the pregnancy because I just scheduled for an appointment to check then probably will have to have an U.S. because that is more reliable than the doctor's guessing. With my first child I didn't have any b___st leaking during the pregnancy but with this one I do. Each pregnancy is different even for the same woman. I feel like I have my dog nose because I can smell so many things that I didn't notice before. Good luck to you! You are very well could be pregnant. Just give it more time!

Thanks for the encouragement Anna. It makes me feel really good to hear your advice. :)

Yes it is possible b/c it happened to me. It was still too early to take a test. I'm now 8 weeks tomorrow. Any other sym.? Good luck.
