last period was nov 6. On dec 11 & 14 took HPT both neg. On dec 15 had blood tested - also negative. Nurse said level of hcg had to be over 2.0 and mine was around 1. ? My weight has not changed but stomach is bloated, cramping & warm occasionally - like pms, soft bowel movements, sore br___ts since last pms for nov period! SO my question is this - if pregnancy is determined by hcg in blood I wonder we women have it normally in our blood anyway ??????? Nurse ruled out tubal pg (Phew) and when asked if we should see the doctor about this she didn't say YES she said POSSIBLY. Hubby wants me to go.......I am scared. My mom menopaused early (my age 37). I can handle not being pg but I cannot deal with the Meno thing yet. I should probably add that I am a Menopause baby myself :-)

Here's my uninformed thoughts: Home preg tests give a positive around 25 or 50 hCG. If they do a quant_tative blood test, anything over 5 is considered a 'repeat later'. hCG doubles every few days for the first months and rises to 20,000+ or some such wild number. Failure of hCG to rise as normal during a pregnancy is a sign to watch out for tubal, but it would at least be up in the preg range. Usually you don't get a quant_tative test unless this is a concern. Your early signs of pregnancy in the absence of hCG may be due to progesterone from some other source - can that be a cyst?
