Hi there - my partner and I have been trying for a baby for over a year but have had no joy - it's getting harder and harder to keep positive. My period is due next week and I am dreading a negative preg test. I have been really teary this weekend and so I supose that means that it is not our time - again - is that right?

If anything, being unusually emotional could be a teensy reason for encouragement. Good luck!

Thanks to you all for all your kind support. I never thought it would be as hard as this to get pregnant and I get a lot through sharing this with people who understand. My sister always says it took her forever + a lot of heartache to find her lovely husband and because she went through all that she appreciates having him even more! I suspect the same applies to me/ us on our plight to get pregnant!! baby dust to all who are hoping !~!~!~ xxx

Jensta - don't give up hope! I'm 42 tomorrow and hoping to be blessed with a second baby... it takes MONTHS! My dh and I have been ttc since August 2005, more seriously in December and January, but with being older I've learned that I have a teeny 5% chance of conceiving again, so my wait may take as long as yours if not longer, so I'm trying to psyche myself up for a looooooooooooong wait! Have you been ttc very actively? Do you have any other children with your huband? If yes then you know you're a good match... if not you may want to consult a fertility specialist to see if you are compatible or if there are any other problems. In my case I already have a son by my dh, so I know we "click"... Good Luck sweetie! And you may be pregnant this month, but just don't know it yet :-)

jcmickens, what do you mean by compatible?

gcmickens - January 16

I can't remember exactly what it was.... something about a woman's chemistry not permitting the man's sperm to survive.... sorry, you'll have to research it, and please let us know if you find out what it is... THANKS!

I think my message may have been a little confusing - My sister+husband story was just a paralell. My partner and I are not married and have no children. I am 32. We have boih had checks..I have had falopian tubes and ovaries looked at and all seemed fine. I had a a while when my cycle went a little funny and I appeared not to be ovulating but they have tested me and that seems fine now. I have detedted my LH surge and we made sure we are 'active' around that time but no positives yet. We have been told over and over we must just wait. Very hard at times - particulary at this time of the month - I am due on this weekend and have no signs and symtoms at all. Just tearful PMT!

Also - gcmickens - thanks for your lovely words. I wish you all the luck in the world. I am always a bit frightened about thinking positively for myself - further to fall and all that. I am more frightened than excited about Friday/ Saturday - the test day...Bt the way - my sister is 5 years older than me and she got pregnant first time she tried (she already has twins) and my 37 year old friend is also pregnant. I would not worry about the age thing - like you say you have proven you can do it once already! That has to be rea__suring for you xxx
