Hey, i was wondering something. It it typical to only have your 1st appt at 10 weeks in Canada?? I'm orignally from the US and it seems like my friends went to the doc right away. They had US at like 8 weeks. Also, they said that they wouldn't do the first U/S until 20 weeks...I don't want to wait that long. Any thoughts??

When I was pg two years ago, I didn't even have a gyn, so I went to my family doc. He said the HPT was enough to go by, but then he sent me for bloodwork that day. Within a couple of weeks I went to the gyn, and between the 2 docs, they sent me to Hali. I had my first u/s at 12 weeks, when they told me that the fetus hadn't grown since 8w - and to expect a m/c. Anyway...getting off topic here!! Yeah - that does sound like a long time. Have you found a family doctor yet? Maybe you could make an appt with them, and they can get the ball rolling with bloodwork..... Have you started taking your pre-natals yet? If not, that's a good place to start! Materna is the brand name, but Wal-Mart or Super-store have a pre-natal that's the same as Materna (and a bit cheaper)

awesome..thanks! I don't have a family doc yet..but I want to get one. I'm going to call around...I want dh to get a physical anyway...we haven't had one in about a year. I have folic acid but I need to go get some prenatals!

So sorry about your m/c as well!!!! I hope you get your bfp this cycle!!!!

Thanks frozenfeet. Although it was 2 years ago (this March), it still hurts sometimes. Anyway....get those prenatals going!! If they bother your stomach, my doc recommended taking them at night before you go to bed.

hi chrissievan! I'm in Yarmouth Nova Scotia...Still pretty far but in the atlantic provinces. I can't wait to be misriably pregnant!!! Congrats to you too!!!

Frozen feet, I know they will do an ultra sound a little sooner if you are not sure about when you conceived. If you go into your doctor and tell them that you last period was not normal and late then they will probably do the ultrasound around 9 weeks. GL

hiya chrissievan!! I'm in CB, Nova Scotia. Not exactly close...but not too far away! My sis-in-law had her u/s at 20 weeks - if they consider it to be a normal pregnancy. Sounds kinda late to me, but....I'm no doctor, right?!

Hey East Coast Girls. Halifax here, but from CB. Im on babe #2, and I didnt have any 'prenatal' appointments until 10 weeks with this baby. With the first, I made an appoitment around 7 weeks or so, and she took information from me, explained a few things, but no real baby stuff until after 10 weeks when they check for heartbeat. If you are not sure about date of conception, or there are any other issues, they will send you for an early ultrasound...besides that, just one at 20 weeks. I am 26 weeks, due in April. Congrats to all! I hope you all have happy healthy pregnancies.

I just got back from lunch-break...the driving is TERRIBLE!! I didn't even bother shutting my vehicle off when I went home. lol I work for a trucking company, so I really hate days like today, with no visibility. Some of the trucks still go out, and you cringe every time the phone rings....
