Likelihood Of Pregnancy

Okay, guys, bear with me here. I've been taking my bbt for the last 3 cycles, and since I always get AF either on the 27th or 28th day I ovulate around the 13th or 14th day. This cycle, however, my temps stayed below the coverline until this morning, which is the 19th day. It's also good to note that my fiance and I are trying to avoid pregnancy, so I've been using the temperature method to see when I've ovulated. Well, last night we had unprotected s_x because it seemed like I should have ovulated by now if I was even going to this cycle. Imagine my surprise this morning when my temp shot up from 97.7 to 98.2 (well above the coverline). I'm just wondering what is the likelihood that I could be pregnant? It seemed like I probably ovulated yesterday or the day before. Thank you so much :)

Well, it sounds like your chances are as high as they could be, since you had s_x just about on top of ovulation. You'll be happy to know, however, that even the best chance each month is only around 25%. Of course, in all reality a 25% chance is a very good chance, but at least you've got a 3 in 4 chance of NOT being pregnant. Of course, what I just said a__sumes that 97.7 is your typical follicular phase temp. What are your normal FP temps? If they're usually around 97.2 and this is just a second increase, it could mean that you ovulated earlier and you're in the clear.

My normal FP temps range between 97.5 to 97.8, so the increase today was definitely the first one for this cycle. Thankfully, my fiance and I aren't totally opposed to having a baby right now...we would just prefer to wait. Thanks for your help :)

Well, good luck either way!
