Hello, Ladies. This is my first month temping and I noticed that my waking temps seem to be much lower than other women's. I had my thyroid tested last month and it came back fine. I was wondering if any of you might know why my temps would be so low? Also, when does FF draw the O crosshairs? Is it after 3 days of high temps?

Hi Ginger, did you say you had your throid checked? That's good- I have low temps like yours too (well some of the time anyway, that's what I'm trying to figure out) and I was hoping something wasn't wrong with me as well. And yes FF should draw crosshairs after 3 days of higher temps. I didn't see any O on your chart yet. Check out mine and see what you think. I posted under Early O? My chart link is there. My temps were lower like yours at the beginning of my cycle.

Saird, I read on the Web that a low BBT can mean thyroid/metabolic issues. But like I mentioned, my horomone tests (with the exception of testorone a little on the low-side) came back fine. Where is the link to your FF? I didn't see it.

oh, wait just saw that you said it's under the forum "early O?" I will check it out.

Saird, I just saw your chart. Honestly, I don't know if you Oed on the 8th. I am kinda new to it all. Don't you just hate it when your pattern is not like the "typical" ones they always show? It makes it really difficult to "read." :)

Saird - September 18th, 2006 1:19 PM

yes, I find it really annoying. I see so many people with the obvious thermal shift and I just have no idea whether I did or not.

ginger6363 - September 18th, 2006 1:23 PM

Yeah, I hear you. I temperature has risen, but not much, so I am having trouble identifying if that is a real "shift." I think my CM has dried up today so it may have been. I did get a positive on an OPK, if that means anything. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. :)

yeah, your shift is definitely not a defined one, is it? i just looked again and your temps seem even lower than mine- mine go up to usually about 36.2 after O. I still have no idea though. I'm glad someone else has lower temps! I was thinking I was the only one!!!

ginger6363 - September 18th, 2006 2:00 PM

Saird, are you using a BBT thermometer? Mine is a digital fever thermometer and not necessarily a "BBT" therometer. I wonder if that has anything to do with the lows.

Saird - September 18th, 2006 2:06 PM

Mine is the same- it isn't a BBT thermometer- just a digital- I assumed it wouldn't be that big of a deal- but maybe you're right.

How long is your folliclular phase usually? Low bbts could be a sign of PCOS...have you been tested/ultrasound on ovaries? I have lower bbts...high estrogen in the system causes the temps to be low. My folliclular phase temps range from 97.2-97.5, they never really get lower than that...but my doc said that long folliclular phase, low temps indicate PCOS.

ginger6363 - September 18th, 2006 3:04 PM

hi linds99, I haven't been tested specifically for PCOS. I have had many ultrasounds, not specifically for ovaries, but for my uterine analomy and the doc has never said anything was unusal about the ovaries. I did have an HSG and my tubes seemed normal (about a year ago). As I mentioned earlier, my testorone is low and women with PCOS have high testorone, so I don't know if that's what's going on with me. Thanks for the info. I will definitely ask my doc about it.

linds99 - September 18th, 2006 3:20 PM

I have PCOS and my testosterone is normal. In fact, my LH, FSH, estrogen, estrodial levels all are normal. I have had my blood tested numerous times at cycle day 3 and 10 and all reveal "normal limits", the only thing is that I form more eggs on my ovaries, by CD10, I usually have 3 -5 big eggs formed, instead of 1. That was my only sign of pcos, along with the lower temps and long follicular phase.

ginger6363 - September 18th, 2006 3:26 PM

ahhh, good to know. I will definitely ask my doc---I am seeing him tomorrow. I don't know for sure if my folicular phase is longer than normal since I just started charting and temping. It maybe b/c last month I was 2 weeks late--I ovulated late. I thought it was left-over whackiness from getting off BCP. I have been off 3 months, but I had two normal cycles before the late one. Nevertheless, I am seeing my doc tomorrow to talk about all this stuff. thanks again for the insight.

Let us know how it goes. BC can really throw things off kilter for many women, and then there are women that stop the pill and get pregnant right away! It just is so unpredictable.

ginger6363 - September 18th, 2006 4:13 PM

linds99: have you been able to conceive w/PCOS?

ginger6363 - September 18th, 2006 4:28 PM

bump
