what is the mucous plug and how do u know if u have it? what does it look like?

Unless you are very flexable I don't believe you will be able to see it. (haha)The mucous plug forms at the cervic and usally comes out a before you go into labor. I have had it descibed to me as a brownish mucous clump that is pretty good in size. I have no idea how to tell when you have one. But all ladies that get preggo will get one at some point

I believe every woman gets one when they become pregnant. I can't recall "losing" mine pre-labor with 1st pregnancy; however, this time I believe I'm losing it now. It won't always be tinged with blood....mine resembles thick nasal discharge (very gross I know) and appears after wiping. This has been going on since yesterday. I'm almost 38wks.

My sister saw hers in the toilet and described it as looking like cooked ground beef.

a mucus plug is something that keeps bacteria from entering the uterous. it usually looks like jelly
