I need someone's opinion. I have a regular ob-gyn visit this afternoon...in like 1.5 hours. my husband and I started ttc a month ago...so there is a small chance I am pregnant right now. I am between 11 and 12 dpo....so my period is not due to start for another day or two. should I ask the office to give me a blood test? I read that blood tests can be detected by 10 to 11dpo. Should I just wait to get a positive at home before going in for that????

if you are already at the gyno's then you might as well have one done, it cant hurt.

That's going to be up to your doctor. It can't hurt to ask him/her though. Yes, a blood test is likely to show if you're pregnant now. However, I would only want a quantative (how much hCG) this early because a qualitive (yes/no) might still say no this early as the hCG won't be high at all at this point. best to you! (Your doctor will probably have some good tips for you like starting on pre-natal vitamins. (

I agree Melonie, since you're already going to be in the dr's office I'd take a bloodtest just to get things rolling and have a clear head. The earlier you start pre-natal the better..

Well, Melonie how did things go?

I read that Some doctors offices don't do a blood test unless you are at least 2 weeks late. Were you able to get one?
