Negative Hpt But 4 Days Late

My cycle is normally 27 days. My husband and I had s_x on days 12 and 15. Now I'm 4 days late, I have lower back pain, a little nausea, and frequent urination, but hpt was negative. I followed the test directions to a T, but results were negative. Is it possible that it was a bad test? I am not stressed in any way, avg weight, had a physical abt a year ago, no thyroid problems, not using birth control. Help?

you could easily just be testing too early - even though you are late for af, it takes a while in some women for the hormones to build up and show in the hpt. i would wait a couple days and take another one (some say to wait a week but i can't do that!) - in the morning, pee in a cup and dip it in, and see what comes of that. also, if you can get a blood test, those are great and pretty dang accurate. good luck!

I am in a similar boat as well I'm usually on a 26-28 day cycle and now it's been 30 days since last af. I took a test this morning and I had a faint I mean faint second line I think I'm imagining it. So I will retest I think at the end of the week or possibly in two days if I can't stand the wait and if af doesn't come before then. Like you I have little symptoms slight nausea, some lower back pain and I do go to the restroom alot. What test did you take? I took a walmart brand one I don't know if that's a factor. Well Good Luck!!

I took an AccuClear early pregnancy test. I don't know if I took the test too early. I was pregnant before, and had a miscarriage almost 5 months ago. I know it is not too soon to be pg. I will admit, I am a bit worried that I am pg and going to miscarry again and that is why the test is negative. I hope not, though. I am not still depressed over the miscarriage. I'm about ready to call the DR now. The Waiting Game is not fun. I have a gut feeling I am pregnant. I don't know if it wishful thinking or what. Before, when I was pg, the only symptoms I had were a little nausea and extreme fatigue. Who knows? Like my husband says, it's in God's hands.

I'm still going nuts. One time, when I thought I was pg I took a hpt, it was neg. Within a few hours i got my AF. I was sure that stressing over being pg was what made it late. It was the only time in my history that I was late, and only 2 days late. I'm 4 days late now and took the hpt which was neg. Still no AF. I know I am impatient, but this is mind numbing. Especially, since I have had a miscarriage and that time the hpt was pos after only being three days late.

I know the waiting game can be hard but I've heard that it's best to wait 1 week after a missed af. So you still have hope. If you're that unsure call the dr. and ask for a quant_tive blood test. Did you use the same brand last time? Because that can also be a factor. I'm thinking that I will try the first response I've tryed it a couple of times before but I was in denial and I had not missed af yet and of course it was negative because I was not pregnant. But keep your head up as long as af doesn't show you still got a chance. I'll be waiting with you. =)

I did use a different test. AccuClear early hpt. Last time I used Answer. I thought that AccuClear was a more trusted brand...

Isn't accuclear the ocso brand? I used equate this morning. But like I said maybe you should try first response or clearblue digital. Something different maybe you might get lucky.I'm gonna google a bit and I'll check back with you on the levels they're supposed to pick up.Chat Later

KT - March 29

I don't know if it is osco brand. I have to go to work in a few, so we'll see. I've heard that there are a lot of issues with the clear blue digital, so don't get that one. I've heard others say something about the test saying not pregnant, but then having two lines instead of one??? Sounds confusing. I'm going to wait a couple of days and then take another test. In the meantime, I hope I can find a good book...

Alexis - March 29

Yes I do agree a good book to keep your mind off of all this. Yes I have learned not to read the test stick on the digital one's cause all they do is get your hopes up because they also test for the ovulation hormone thus giving the second line when pulling out the test stick. I think I'm going to buy first response I read right now that the equate brand reads at 100 hcg. So I guess we'll see.

I would think after a neg result, by NOW I would have af, but still, nothing...

My HPT was also negative....I am 6 days late. Good luck KT and Alexis.

Alexis - March 30

Did you take another hpt? I have not yet I'm going to tomorrow. Anything new?

KT - your story sounds exactly like mine a couple of months ago. About 3 months after getting off B/C, I just knew i was pg. the only 2 signs i had was extreme fatigue and crazy moods. i began testing about a week after i thought i had ovulated. of course the tests were negative. i also am extremely impatient and began testing just about every other day with HPT's. i finally got a BFP, then went to dr. to confirm. the urine test came out negative! after gettin 2 more BFP's and demanding a blood test, it turned out i was pg. about a week and a half later, i miscarried. if i hadn't had been so eager to keep checking, i am sure i would have just thought i was getting my period a little later. it's now been 66 days since my last AF. after countless BFN's and a neg. blood test my dr. put me on provera yesterday so that i will get my AF within about 15 days. then it's homework time!! p.s. accu-clear was the test i used that proved to be even more accurate than my dr.'s test.

Alexis - March 30

where do they sell accu-clear?

KT - March 30

Ruby, it sounds like you've been through a lot. I wish there were a way for women to not be so confused. I wish the tests were more accurate. I've heard from so many women that take pregnancy tests after being only a few days late, that tell me the tests were inaccurate, so they continue on for a couple months before they finally go to the DR because they can't wake up or kick "the flu", Then they find out that they actually are pregnant and the hpt was wrong! They continue to have a healthy pg and baby.

Ruby - March 30

KT-that's exactly what i was counting on. i was hoping i was one of those rare cases that didn't show up positive until further into my pregnancy. but my dr went suggested that i go ahead and take the progesterone pills in order to get a period. since i have no signs of getting it anytime soon, we decided to go ahead and take them so i can get on with trying again. have you gone in for a blood test?
